error when processing it, I've searched the threads and found the scuba pete guide, downloaded DVD decrypter, tried it and failed, cleaned dvd & dvd drives - no luck, even tried something called claddvd to get past it, nothing, data error cyclic redundancy check fix my question is are there dvds that can be ripped, I dont think this is a bad disc since I can play or maybe I'm wrong - help? weehawk, Nov 8, 2004 #1 ScubaPete Senior member Joined: Mar 13, 2003 Messages: 6,324 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 116 Hi weehawk, welcome to aD, A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following: 1. A dirty disc, 2. A cyclic redundancy check dvd copy scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched discs which may cause ripping problems. Some people like ripping with DVD Decrypter using the "File" "Mode" BUT, especially for episodel-type DVD's, I feel that nothing can beat ripping the DVD using the "ISO", "Read", "Mode". After you've ripped your disc using the "ISO" "Read" "Mode", open DVD Shrink go to

Dvd Shrink Encountered An Error And Cannot Continue
When trying to backup my TV Show starting with DVD Shrink I can't get through the Analyzing without getting a Data Error which always is Data Error: (cyclic redundancy check) screen pop's up. Is there anything that I can do to get http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/dvd-shrink-data-error-cyclic-redundancy-check.321265/ the show shrunk at to my HD to write it to a DVD ? TC Quote 2nd Apr 201122:45 #2 Noahtuck View Profile View Forum Posts Banned Join Date : Jun 2004 Location : ®Inside My Avatar™© U.S. What are you ripping with ? Are the original dvd's retail store bought (pressed) ? Dvd Shrink is waaaaay old and has not been updated to deal with newer copy protections in YEARS as far as ripping is concerned!!!! If you are trying to http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/333596-Backing-up-using-the-DVD-Shrink open and rip them from your drive with Dvd Shrink that is probably your problem. Newer copy protections for pressed retail dsic's is updated many times a year. Rip with something that is updated on a regular basis to deal with newer copy protections like dvdfab decrypter then open with dvd shrink to transcode to fit on a SL dvdr. Quote 2nd Apr 201123:29 #3 tcory View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Member Join Date : Dec 2010 I have been lucky I guess, because I put in the movie/TV Show in my drive, use DVD Shrink and shrink to my HD and then use IMGBURN to burn to a blank DVDr. Now I'm getting the (cyclic redundancy check) problem. I guess what I need to know is... do I use the HD Decrypter to burn the main movie to the HD and then use DVD Shrink and then burn or write it from there to a DVD blank disc ? I don't drink, but after reading this post I understand why you would think I was Noahtuck. I sometimes have a hard time explaining my problem, but sometimes these Bill Gates on here throw so much crap out there it is very confusing. I will lay off the booze! LOL! Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read the file "D:\" Data error (cyclic redundancy check). I guess these few DVD's just have some extra security features that jam up the ripping process! Anyone familiar w/ this problem??? Disney movies seem to always do this. At the moment I was trying to rip Twilight (which I rented for my girlfriend), and it gave me that same error message. ^ 64k06-03-2010, 04:34 PMTwilight! well thats why it error'd the PC has better taste than your misses. WoodyXP06-03-2010, 04:40 PMThat error translates into 'Buy your own DVDs, cheapass!!'. Chilly Willy06-03-2010, 07:10 PMThat error translates into 'Buy your own DVDs, cheapass!!'. You're making unwarranted assumptions. I ALWAYS immediately rip my DVDs and BluRays so that I can play them on the computer and skip the damn commercials. If I want commercials, I'll watch public TV. If you have kids, it's even more imperative that you rip your DVDs and BluRays - the kids WILL destroy any disc you let them play within a few days. One time, I found the damn disc ON THE EFFIN ROOF!!! evildragon06-03-2010, 07:13 PMI usually use DVDFab to get around what DVD Shrink doesn't get.. Then if fab can't do it, there's another utility, but I don't like it and forget the name. It's on my laptop and I can check though. Sparksterz06-03-2010, 07:21 PMIf it had a crc error it's usually the case that the media is bad. In this case I'm guessing it may be scratched? evildragon06-03-2010, 07:25 PMIf it had a crc error it's usually the case that the media is bad. In this case I'm guessing it may be scratched? Normally yes. But I've seen some recent DVD's with improper filesystems, as it shows the DVD as like 90GB in size or something like that, which is impossible. MN12BIRD06-03-2010, 07:56 PMDVD Shrink only has basic (and out dated) DVD decryption built in. Any modern DVD should cause it to halt. You need a separate decrypter like AnyDVD to get around it. AnyDVD will run in the background in between your DVD Drive and software like DVD Shrink. Then as far as DVD Shrink is concerned there is no encryption on the DVD it's ripping. AnyDVD also works with HD-DVD
