Not able to take full backups, below is the error we are getting. I tried running full backups to continue after errors but it still fails. Yes sql services has full access to the disk. I was able http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31879488/sql-2008-backups-failing to take full backups for other databases on same server. What you can do is to take database offline for a second (Tasks>Take offline) than copy database and log files .mdf and .ldf to alternate location. Than try to repair database, if there is some data lost, you can always restore copied files and database to previous s

The error is: 10 percent processed. 20 percent processed. Msg 3271, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 A nonrecoverable I/O error occurred on file "R:\data\MyDB.mdf:" 23(Data error (cyclic redundancy check).). Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally. I cyclic redundancy check thought it was a database corruption, so I executed: DBCC CHECKDB([MyDB]) WITH NO_INFOMSGS; and no errors were found. What could be happening? What are your suggestions regarding this datafile? sql-server share|improve this question edited Oct 15 '12 at 8:39 Mat 6,57622234 asked Oct 10 '12 at 16:03 mvillegascuellar 71111 Can you query data with out issue/error? Are you using SQL Server native backup? Is your backup location local on the server or a network share? –Shawn Melton Oct 10 '12 at 16:28 The backup is SQL Server native. I am backing up to a local drive and there is plenty of space. The database is about 20 GB I don't know which table is corrupt but the tables I have queried returned the correct results. –mvillegascuellar Oct 10 '12 at 16:56 Did you try CHKDSK? Could be physical disk problem. And try "DBCC CHECKDB (DBName)" (without "NO_INFOMSGS"). –Roi Gavish Oct 10 '12 at 16:57 1 See here: sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic714637-146-1.aspx –Jon Seigel Oct 10 '12 at 17:15 1 @JNK this is not a duplicate. Question 21960 was about WRITING the backup file (free space problem), This one is about READING the .mdf file, possible physical corruption of hard drive. –Roi Gavish Oct 11 '12 at 15:16 | show 1 more comment 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote If
a situation when I was Fetching record from a table, suddenly got below error message for few records: Error:- Msg 823, Level 24, State 2, Line 1 The operating system returned error 23(Data error (cyclic redundancy check).) to SQL Server during a read at offset 0x000000344c000 in file 'D:\DB_NAME\DB_NAME.mdf'. Additional messages in the SQL Server error log and system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe system-level error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). This error can be caused by many factors; for more information, see SQL Server Books Online. Cause: This error message occurs when database mdf file or database table get corrupted Suggestion: If you want to find the exact cause of the error then you should run the following command before using any repair option: DBCC ChecKDB('
