A cyclic redundancy check error can be caused by several different issues: registry corruption, a cluttered hard disk, an unsuccessful data error cyclic redundancy check external hard drive seagate program installation, or misconfigured files. Regardless of the specific cause, the cyclic redundancy check error is a serious one and must be addressed to avoid potential data loss or even a total system failure system. Luckily, there are a few

simple ways to address this problem using (free) disk utility software.[1] Steps Method 1 Running the CHKDSK Utility 1 Access the CHKDSK utility. CHKDSK (or "check disk") is a built-in Windows utility that will scan and repair your drive's errors. It has the ability to find and repair a number of small errors or file corruptions that may be causing the cyclic redundancy error. Right click the drive you want to check, then click Properties->Tools. Under “Error Checking” click “Check data error cyclic redundancy check dvd Now”. If a CD or DVD disc is giving you this error it may be the result of a scratch or some dust. Try cleaning the disk with a soft cloth before anything else. Optical disk errors are often not repairable. If you get this error on a Mac (less common), first try the built-in Disk Utility and “Repair” the disk. 2 Decide on a basic versus an advanced scan. Check boxes to indicate if you’d like to do a basic check and repair or an advanced one - the default is the basic scan. The basic scan should take around 15-20 minutes while the advanced scan may take hours. Make sure you’ve got the time set aside and don't disturb the computer once it begins. 3 Reboot the computer to begin the scan. If scanning the main drive on your computer (the one you’re booted up on), CHKDSK will not be able to run immediately and will instead schedule the scan for the next time you reboot the computer. You can continue use the computer as normal at this point - restart when you know you have time for the full scan. If you suspect your hard disk is nearing the end of its life, get your data backed up before running the scan. Even if some data is already inaccessible, backup everything you can just in case. 4 Use the alternate CHKDSK utility access. Sometimes run

not accessible, data error (cyclic redundancy check) is basically an error checking technique which is used for data verification. It detects accidental changes in the data. It is used by computers to specifically check the data stored in http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Cyclic-Redundancy-Check-Error the hard drive. Data error (cyclic redundancy check) was thrown by the hard drive, the cause is likely data being incorrectly written to the hard drive. This can be caused by either the operating system being corrupt, or a power loss. Data error (cyclic redundancy check) indicates that the operating system has found a drive with bad sectors, this is usually caused by hard drive hardware problems. No program can repair bad sectors, so there is http://www.m3datarecovery.com/raw-drive-recovery/drive-not-accessible-cyclic-redundancy-check.html no way to fix this inaccessible drive with bad sectors. To protect data security, the only way is to recover data from this inaccessible drive which prompts "data error (cyclic redundancy check)" firstly, and then check drive errors and see whether it can fix data error (cyclic redundancy check) or not. How to recover data from this inaccessible drive which prompts "data error (cyclic redundancy check)"? hard drive and how I fixed the cyclic redundancy error WARNING! This is seriously geeky stuff (made simple). If you're not into geeky stuff, you might want to go read about how almonds saved me from the Panamanian Police. Also, if this helps you with your hard drive, please consider a donation. http://www.carrieandjonathan.com/donate Consider yourself warned. Let the geek-speak begin. --- I thought our 500 GB Iomega Hard Drive had crashed. This is a hard drive which was sent to us by my brother and sister-in-law (when we were in New Zealand in 2010). Since that time, this 500 GB hard drive become filled with tens of thousands of pictures, videos we've created from our various travels, and a whole bunch of marketing related stuff for our online work. I thought the drive was done for (i.e. crashed forever) tonight. However, after LOTS of reading 2 hours of kicking things around in frustration (only sort of kidding) and a random suggestion within DOS I got this drive repaired and the data back. WHOO-HOO! This post is for anyone else who might be experiencing the same Cyclic Redundancy Check Here's what I did to fix the Data Error: Cyclic Redundancy Check Start -> opened a command prompt (I typed CMD into the search feature in Windows 7, but depending on your version of Windows, you'll have to look up how to do this.) Got the desired DOS black screen with c:UsersJonathan I ran checkdisk on the drive. I did that by typing chkdsk g: So the whole line looked like this: C:UsersJonathan>chkdsk g: (Your drive may have a different letter). Running checkdisk took a few minutes to check the disk. Then I read through the results of the checkdisk. This message was in there. "The volume Bitmap is incorrect. Windows found problems with the file system. Run CHKDSK with the /F (fix) option to correct these." So, I ran this: C:UsersJonathan>chkdsk g: /F It took a few minutes, but the drive came back up, and I now no longer have the "Cyclic Redundancy Check" error message. Here's a screenshot of the DOS prompts. I can access all of the files on my Iomega Drive. And I've now moved the files onto a different drive (just in case). Hope this works for you if you are also having a "Data Error: Cyclical Redundancy Check" challenge. (If it works and saves you time and frustration,
