Data error (cyclic redundancy check) if installing from CD might be problem etc..... Error Installation data error failed: D:\I386\asms. I shutdown check bios, everything ok, reboot np get to xp pro installation again and it runs for a few minutes then I recieved another error... Same as before except added this ... error SXSLL:syntax error in manifest or policy file "D:\I386\asms\1000\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS.MAN" Everything I doubled checked, connections and such all seemed right and ok, cables check... boot from hd/boot from cd ok, error in windows installation. I wiped and cleaned CD again, I checked surface before and after, brand new scratch free, I opened data error cyclic the sealed pack myself, not a pirated copy, all legit. any advice pointers or something I missed appreciated Im thinking bad disc? *scratches head* I know it rarely happens so i'm trying all other possibilities, thanks for any bones you can throw my way. Edit: PS I did format my HD with xp pro with in the install, and even tried to reformat it one more time just in case (slower option) Edit : Thank you for posting links.. I have a new liteOn cdrw drive, I have an older plain cd rom drive in another computer I can switch with and try to install when I get home from work. Edit: Thank you for responses.. Specs are - (all new) CPU AMD 2500+ Barton 2 sticks Corsair 3200 Plat. WD 80 HD Caviar ED Lite ON cdrw Radeon 9700 pro VidCard Abit NF7-s mobo v2.0 Edit: I also have my wifes copy of xp home from her laptop if it is worth trying to temporarily installing to see if it is the disk, as a last resort I hate to think a new 135.00 cd is the problem? Any ideas? EDIT: Just found this article in microsoft knowledge base, possibility my hard-drive has become corrupted...odd. It gives a few ideas such as try using repair when asked if I want to repair previous install of windows. I have a raptor that should be here sometime next week, but I still need this hard-drive to work as it will be going in another rig. Last ed
