I've been trying to get the Sequelink 5.4 ODBC driver to work with FileMaker 7 Server Advanced, but I just can't get it to work. When I go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) I try to create a data source using the Sequelink driver, but when I click on 'Test Connect' I get the error: [DataDirect][ODBC SequeLink driver][sequeLink Client]TCP/IP error I've tried setting the SequeLink Server Host to localhost

and 127.0.0.1 I've tried setting the SequeLink Server Port to 2399, 19996, and 19997. (yeah, I've been told many things) I already copied the xDBC.fmx and the xDBC Support Folder copied to my FileMaker Server 7ExtensionsPlugins directory. I've also enabled sharing via ODBC/JDBC in FileMaker Server. I've been looking at forums all over the place, but none of their solutions have helped me. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Garry
 Guest Guests Posted October 7, 2004 As far as I know the file is open in FM Server. When I look at it's status using the server administrator program, it says Normal. I can change its status to Closed, so I assume that Normal means that it is open. Do I need to also install FileMaker Pro on the same machine and open it using that? -Jason
 Garry Claridge 0 member Members 0 2,829 posts Version: 10 Advanced Posted October 7, 2004 Re: Do I need to also install FileMaker Pro on the same machine and open it using that? No. The port which FM uses to talk to FM is 5003. I don't know if you need to try that or not.

Solution 2: Sharing could be turned off, turn it on. Goto Edit, Sharing, ODBC/JDBC.. and turn On ODBC/JDBC Sharing. ------------ Restarting FM server process helped in my case. PeterGort Jul 14, 2009 6:19 PM TitleHow to setup Filemaker ODBC client connection on Mac?PostI'm trying to setup a Filemaker Pro 10 client to access a Filemaker Pro Server Advanced 10 database, via ODBC. (Why not just use the regular filemaker client to server connection? There's a very very good reason, but it's too long to go into here). The file has the [fmxdbc] extended privilege enabled, and is being served on a Filemaker Server Advanced server with ODBC/JDBC serving turned on. Both Server and Client are Mac OS X 10.5.7.On the client machine I have installed the Sequelink.bundle file in the /Library/ODBC/ folder, and checked the permissions on the bundle, which are set to owner/group root/admin and read/write for owner and group and read only for others. As per thefm10_odbc_jdbc_guide_en.pdf, page 13.I opened ODBC Administrator and attempted to create a system DSN, but Sequelink doesn't appear in the driver list. So I went to the Drivers tab, added and entry and called it "Filemaker" and specified the path/Library/ODBC/SequeLink.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ivslk20.dylib, again as per thefm10_odbc_jdbc_guide_en.pdf, page 13. Unfortunately that document is NOT very clear on how to set up a mac ODBC client! After I had created that driver entry, I was able to set up a DSN. But, nowhere in this did it ask for IP address or any other connection details. So I figured it must be in the keywords and values area of the DSN in ODBC Administrator. Unfortunately if you add a keyword and value line, they are not editable in the ODBC Administrator! Anyway, I figured out that drivers are specified in /Library/ODBC/odbcinst.ini, and DSNs are in the /Library/ODBC/odbc.ini file, so the next thing I had to find out what were the appropriate keywords. The only thing I have been able to find that might help was page 17 of http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/documentation/fm8_odbc_jdbc_developer.pdfSo I edited my odbc.ini file to look like this:[MyMacbook]Driver = /Library/ODBC/SequeLink.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ivslk20.dylibDescription =Ho
