Database Error -104 At Opc Db2
vote Hi, I'm currently running SQL Server 2005, build 3233. I have cannot bulk load because the file operating system error code 3 a task which runs each night to update a database with data from text files. I've written a Stored Procedure which checks to see if these text files exist and, if so, Bulk Inserts the data into the relevant tables. This work perfectly . . . . . most of the time. However, every so often, the process fails when trying to perform the Bullk Insert, with Error 4861. From what I can find out, this error suggests that Bulk Insert is unable to find the file. But I don't understand how this can be as my code first of all checks for the existence of this file before trying to run the Bulk Insert. Also, looking at one of the errors that occured this morning, the file was created at 2:18am, but my program did not try to perform the update until 2:24am, so it's not as if it's trying to access the file whilst it's still being created. There seems to be no pattern as to when it will fail (last night's failure was a week after the previous one, which in turn was 2 weeks after the one before that), or on what files it will fail (there's 110 files that are imported each night). Re-running the code when we've got in to work in the morning updates the files with no problem. My only thought could be that network issues may be causing this. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks. Either of thse would prevent SQL Server from accessing the file. Why not return an error code from the sproc if it fails, and in your SQL Agent Job, retry the sproc after a few minutes on failure? I have an application, in which I BULK INSERT the contents of a csv file into a table through stored procedure. The stored Procedure uses BULK INSERT (SQL Server 2005). http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2591780/error-4861-i-do-a-bulk-insert-the-contents-of-a-csv-file-into-a-table-through This works fine in a standalone system. However when I use the same in a multitier architecture (Web server, Application Server and DB Server) it is throwing 4861 error. Could you please help? The files are stored on the Web Server. The translated error message is: Error – 2147217900:4861: Since it can not be opened for the file \\Servername\c$\Folder1\Folder2\Folder3\file.csv, It can not be loaded with large capacity. Operation system error code is 5 (error not ……….) If you're running the bulk insert from a SQL Server job, make sure the user account of the SQL Server Agent service has rights to open the file. If you're running the query from a regular connection, SQL Server will impersonate you and then try to read the file. However, by default, SQL Serv
