Then updateto the newer KB. Most likely the problem is associated with versions. Access is not backwards compatible. You need to build using the lowest version of Access that users will be using it in. If you have users in A2007, A2010 and A2013 then build using A2007 so that everyone can use it. If you have already built it using items only available in newer versions then you will need to remove those items. Make sure to set the Set the Access Options / General / Creating Databases / New Database Sort order to /General - Legacy. Resolution You will need to convert the database to a previous version of Access, using your current version. By converting your database you can open the database with an older version of Access. This is only possible if you you have the newer version of Access however. This screenshot indicates where you can find the utlity for converting your database. Likely Cause 2 The unrecognized database format error message is a commonly recognized symptom of a damaged (corrupted) database and will prevent the user from running the Compact and Repair Database option in Access.
