Run DBCC CHECKDB." on a regular basis. Unfortunately this is the only text presented in the error message. Given the potentially serious nature of this error it would be useful if further information such as, but not limited to, the DB name/ID, object http://www.dnnsoftware.com/forums/threadid/485719/scope/posts/fatal-error-9100-corrupted-indexes- name/ID and index name/ID could be included to assist with troubleshooting. Suggesting that CHECKDB should be executed is fine if the databases are relatively small, but expecting us to run CHECKDB against a 1TB database when it is in use is not acceptable. Even though we have a mirrored copy of the database against which we can create a snapshot and run DBCC https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/531201/improve-error-message-quality-9100-possible-index-corruption-detected-run-dbcc-checkdb CHECKDB, it could be hours before the source of the error is found. Submit Posted by SamCPP on 5/30/2011 at 5:13 PM Hi Chris,DBCC CHECKDB does not necessarily fix the issues either.E.g. when you have invalid date dataYou may need to manually track down the issue and correct the data in those circumstances as DBCC cannot determine an appropriate substitute.Again another case for being given an indication of where the data is invalid.SC Posted by Microsoft on 4/12/2010 at 2:17 PM Hi Chris,Thanks for your feedback. We'll take a look at that error message and the situations that cause it, and we'll look into making that message more useful when considering improvements for the next release of SQL Server. Thanks,David CohenSQL Server Program Management Sign in to post a workaround.
