Are the mesa libraries installed (e.g. libgl1-mess-glx)? I think these will allow video acceleration using the processor which is not as good as http://bandshed.net/forum/index.php?topic=1967.10;wap2 using the video card. The only other idea I have is building the driver from source, because Intel does provide open source drivers - see http://intellinuxgraphics.org/. Also check other forums to try to find an expert on Intel video cards on linux which I am not. thesafeplaces: varpa, libgl1-mesa-glx, -dev, -common-dev, -dri and -utils are installed, though not -swx11. Should I try installing that?I Googled around and I wonder if this is what I'm suffering from. Though it's a bit old - http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=ODk2OAI can't tell if this is a kernel problem, a driver problem, or has something to do with AVLinux's configuration. I'm not even sure if I ought to go to the Debian forums for help, because this is something of a derivative and they may not know. Frustrating. Stuff runs perfectly in VLC+Ubuntu 11.10, but I want to use only one OS for everything. x_xTrulan, GMaq? varpa: Well, the fact that your hardware works under Ubuntu means it should work under AVLinux. One approach is to compare the software+versions between the 2 and see if you can figure out the differ
