WTF Reported by Casemon | November 28th, 2011 @ 04:33 AM | in 1.7 (closed) As a test, I encrypted some random text using my own public key (sign option is off when encrypting) I then try to decrypt the result and immediately receive

"Decryption failed. Decryption failed." error dialog. Same thing happens when trying with a file instead of text. Any solution to this? Otherwise, how do i even begin to troubleshoot? Casemon November 28th, 2011 @ 05:13 PM Was under the impression I had a secret key with my public key; recall creating it and moving my mouse a lot ;) Also, the command gpg2 -ao myprivate.key --export-secret-keys (MyKeyID) runs & creates key without error & GPG Keychain says SEC next to my key, however gpg2 --list-keys doesn't mention any SEC: pub 4096R/(MyKeyID) 2011-09-24 "General Error" when signing with S/MIME Status RESOLVED UNMAINTAINED Product: kmail Classification: Unclassified Component: encryption Version: 1.11.0 Platform: Debian testing Linux Importance: NOR kleopatra decryption failed unknown recipient normal with 10 votes (vote) TargetMilestone: --- Assigned To: kdepim bugs URL: Keywords: gpg public key decryption failed general error gpg decryption failed no secret key Depends on: Blocks: Show dependency tree /graph Reported: 2008-06-09 18:29 UTC by David Förster Modified: 2015-04-12 09:55 UTC (History) CC List: 4 users (show) brian erik job subscryer See Also: Latest Commit: Version Fixed In: Description David Förster 2008-06-09 18:29:45 UTC Version: (using KDE 3.5.9) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable https://gpgtools.lighthouseapp.com/projects/67607/tickets/100-decryption-failed-error-on-content-encrypted-to-my-own-public-key-wtf Packages OS: Linux I just configured kmail to use my newly created S/Mime key to sign outgoing mails. However, when I try to send a message it says: "Signierung fehlgeschlagen: General error" The button "Prüfprotokoll anzeigen" triggers another popup: "Für diese Operation ist kein GnuPG-Prüfprotokoll verfügbar." I have no idea what the problem might be. The gpgsm S/Mime support is properly configured in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=163638 the preferences. Any help is appreciated. Comment 1 David Förster 2008-06-09 18:33:48 UTC I just switched the language to get the english error messages: "Signing failed: General error" Click button "Show Audit Log" => "No GnuPG Audit Log available for this operation." All in all not very helpful. Comment 2 Christophe Giboudeaux 2008-06-09 18:44:28 UTC Did you install the gnupg + gnupg2 packages ? Comment 3 David Förster 2008-06-10 18:10:47 UTC Yes, both packages are installed. Comment 4 David Förster 2008-06-17 14:09:10 UTC Created attachment 25401 [details] Command line output with debugging enabled I recompiled kmail with debugging enabled. This is the commandline output when trying to sign a message. Comment 5 Thomas McGuire 2009-02-06 12:02:22 UTC The "General Error" can be avoided by passing --allow-mark-trusted to gpg-agent. In newer versions, the audit log button is not shown anymore if the underlying backends don't support that. Comment 6 subscryer 2009-02-09 17:31:18 UTC I have the same problem with kmail 1.11.0 kde 4.2 on gentoo. Exactly the same dialog with "show audit log". Apparently --allow-mark-trusted does not make a difference. I am unable to make invoked. The attachments are stored at the domain server until fetched by a user. If an error occurs sending the attachments to the queue, neither the message nor the http://support.sas.com/rnd/itech/doc/messageq/common/commaerr.html attachments will be delivered to the queue. In this scenario, the return https://support.zixcorp.com/link/portal/16033/16036/ArticleFolder/49/ZixMail-for-Outlook code from _SEND_/_SENDLIST_ will be set to _SEATTXF. This is an error indicating that neither the message nor the attachments were delivered because one or more errors occurred during attachment transfer. When a message is sent using point-to-point messaging, only the attachment list, along with the message, is sent to the decryption failed receiving side initially. The receiver is then responsible for determining, which, if any attachments should actually be transferred. Because the message is delivered to the receiver before any attachments are actually transferred, an error encountered during attachment transfer will not cause the _SEND_ to terminate. If an error is encountered, the current attachment transfer is terminated, but the remaining attachments selected to be received kleopatra decryption failed are sent to the receiving side. If any errors are encountered during attachment transfer, the return code from _SEND_/_SENDLIST_ will be set to _SWATTXF. This is only a warning indicating that the message was successfully sent, but one or more errors occurred during attachment transfer. Accept Errors When a message includes attachments, the receiver has the responsibility to determine which attachments are ultimately transferred, via the _ACCEPT_ATTACHMENT_ method. If an error is encountered during attachment transfer, the current attachment transfer is terminated, but the transfer continues with the next attachment in the attachlist. If any errors are encountered, the return code from _ACCEPT_ATTACHMENT_ will be set to _SWATTXF. This is only a warning indicating that one or more errors occurred during attachment transfer. Attachment Error Codes To review what was mentioned above, a specific return code will be set if an error is encountered during attachment transfer. when sending on a Cnction instance, _SWATTXF is returned when sending on a Queue instance, _SEATTXF is returned when accepting attachments on either a Queue or Cnction instance, _SWATTXF is returned When one of these scenarios occurs, the attachlist parameter passed to and KeysZixMail Stand Alone ZixMail for Outlook ZixDirectZixOneAdministrationGeneral InformationZEAZMETrainingZixMail for Outlook ZixCorp Systems, Inc.ZixMailZixMail for OutlookAfter pressing the Encrypt and Send button, I receive an Invalid Certificate error. After sending an encrypted email with ZixMail for Outlook, I'm not able to locate the email in my Sent ItemsAn encrypted email bounced with "Transaction failed".
