I dont know why the diagnostics are passing, it should fail on the hard drive. I suggest you call Dell Technical Support in your region for a replacement. Hearing good things abut Mac reliability and quality plus Parallels I figured I would go all out. So all in all, I am a total Mac noob. My laptop came with Windows XP http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19426793 Pro (OEM) and I haave no install disk - But I do have obviously the license stuck to the bottom of the laptop. When running the Transporter on my Mac, the import completes and I run the VM for the first time. I get a dialogue saying configuring the VM with processes 1 of 4. After a https://forum.parallels.com/threads/xldr-ata-error.105167/ while of configuring (still in process 1) I get a black dos screen and a Parallel drop-down appears reporting: You need to manually continue the process of configuring the "Windows XP Dell" virtual machine. To continue with the configuration, log in to your Windows virtual machine. If you have the CD autorun option enabled, the configuration will resume automatically. Otherwise, open My Computer and run setup.exe file located on your CD, ignoring any Windows messages. Was the source drive a system drive (ie, the OS drive)? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then dell laptop error the problem is probably that the disk has the kind of driver the first disk needed but not what the second didsk needed. A common problem when restoring to dissimilar hardware without taking into account the need for diff drivers for diff harware. __________________ Be part of the discussion; Post your objective product views on Amazon and other sites. The target drive is an Intel SSD Top Login to post comments Mon, 2010-11-01 17:44 #3 Seekforever Offline Frequent Poster Joined: 2009-08-16 Posts: 582 Not that familiar with SSD drives but given the mechanisms to rotate the info around the cells to even the life of the drive there is a good chance it has a special driver so Scott's theory may still be correct. You could try installing the SSD drive in the PC and then setting it up and write a file to it. This would get the driver incorporated into the system. Now make the image of the regular SATA drive which will have the SSD driver included and restore that image to the SSD.
