Hardware Malfunction Call Your Hardware Vendor For Support
and is the main reason I registered for this forum. About once or twice a day my Dell Dimension 4700 with hardware malfunction blue screen windows 7 XP shows me the Blue Screen. It says Hardware Malfunction, Call your hardware vendor for support. Parity check / memory parity error, the system has halted. I am looking for suggestions on how to fix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ek_A4SZOcM0 this. When this blue screen appears, I have to reboot and hope it doesn't do it again while I'm in the middle of something important, like typing this! Thanks for any suggestions. I'm guessing it is a common problem on older computers. Mine is about 7 years old. Thanks! Hello and welcome to CHF! Does the blue screen show any error codes, or references to file-names? The message you quote says to me that it could be a RAM problem. What are the circumstances of when this problem occurs? Is it randomly, or during intensive tasks such as gaming or watching video? DirtyPolo, Aug 17, 2013 #2 BBKingfan New Member Joined: Aug 17, 2013 Messages: 6 Operating System: Windows XP Home Thank you for the reply. It is a pretty random issue, but the computer does freeze up often when I have just a few windows open. I think the blue screen happens more often when several things are open. I had more RAM installed a year or so ago. The memory is only 80 gig so I got an external hard drive to store all my pictures and other stuff that takes a lot of memory. I have about 60 gigabytes used out of 80. BBKingfan, Aug 17, 2013 #3 BBKingfan New Member Joined: Aug 17, 2013 Messages: 6 Operating System: Windows XP H

Anyone have enlightenment for me? Normally when im in photoshop but a couple of time when in other apps. Its killing me. stefan150, May 12, 2006 #2 USAFdude02 NBR Reviewer & Deity NBR Reviewer Reputations: 762 Messages: 2,025 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 55 Well...it might be a Windows issue, but it doesn't sound like it...the BSOD is usually a hardware issue. You might want to take out and switch the RAM chips from one slot to the other and make sure they are seated properly. Other than that...is buying new RAM or calling Dell and telling them to send you some new RAM or a new comp. Hope this helps a little. I was using Photoshop with two FireFox Browser windows opened. I got a blue screen error out of nowhere. The message reads: *** Hardware Malfunction Call your hardware vender for support NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error *** The system has halted *** The only thing I could do was manually shut down the laptop. Since turning it back on everything seems to be fine. Is that error serious? Or was it just a glitch? Anyone have any ideas? It's a Dell Inspiron 6400, 2Ghz Centrino Duo, 512MB RAM, and Windows XP Home. Any ideas? Thanks Last edited by Laguna's Girl; 10-09-2006 at 04:12 PM.
