You can change the region code to 2 to watch the DVD, but remember you can only do this five times. The last change you make is permanent. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7pictures/thread/76726250-2350-4f3e-a8fc-469c17732808 While some drives can be made region-free, others cannot - and you can brick a drive by trying. Posted by zoot10 on 1 Feb 2011 17:54 Hi There, To change your DVD region, click start, then 'computer', then right click the picture of your DVD drive select properties, click the hardware tab and select 'DVD Region'. Then scroll down to your country and click it until it goes blue then click 'ok'. If you want to watch a Region 1 DVD select 'united states. If you want to watch a region 2 DVD, select 'united kingdom'. If you look above these options it will tell you how many region changes you have left to make.....remember the last change you make will be permanent. hope this has been of some help....Zoot 10+6, huyton, L,pool, UK. My brother bought new laptops for 3 of our how to unlock a dell laptop password salespeople and me, Dell Vostro 1500. They just came in and I've been playing with it a little bit. Nothing spectacular, 15.4" screen, wifi card, Core 2 Duo, reverse upgrade to XP , blah blah blah. The thing is big, http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3519/t/19356096 especially after seeing the Mac Air! As a small business, screen size and price were heavily factored into the decision. We don't have a need for any major graphics work or anything that requires a butt load of memory or speed. We're pretty much just using them to design fertilization and herbicide/fungicide/insecticide IPM programs for golf courses. Most of which are just Excel based but some are online. The screens are big enough so that you can plop it down http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/open-discussion/212086-dell-laptop-cant-play-movie-dvd-region-error.html on the superintendents desk and it's easy to see everything. That said, entertainment while travelling is an important side-benefit. I've got a flight tomorrow to Orlando that a movie will make pass quite nicely. I've popped in two movies and both of them give me a "DVD Region Error-Unable to play this DVD because it does not match the region code of your disc player." The region currently supported by this disc is USA/Canada and doesn't even give you any other choices, although there is an option to change it. The movies, Blazing Saddles and Anchorman, are both brand new, factory wrapped not some back alley pirate copy. What do I need to do to get them to work? __________________ 1980 300TD-China Blue/Blue MBTex-2nd Owner, 107K (Alt Blau) OBK #15 '06 Chevy Tahoe Z71 (for the wife & 4 kids, current mule) '03 Honda Odyssey (son #1's ride, reluctantly) '99 GMC Suburban (255K+ miles, semi-retired mule) 21' SeaRay Seville (summer escape pod) #2 01-28-2008, 01:33 PM TX76513 Platinum Member Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Brandon, Mississippi Posts: 4,939 View Photos By: TX76513 On my Sony with Windows NP 1. First you can play the DVD using Windows Media Player. Or just reinstall the DVD program. Since sometimes they give you several chances to use different regions before locking it. For the one on my Toshiba, I changed it 5 times before it locked itself. Jarrod, Sep 14, 2007 #6 Hioctane Notebook Enthusiast Reputations: 0 Messages: 24 Likes Received: 0 Troph

After that I am unable to play any CDs or DVDs in the DVD+RW drive(manufacturer:NEC). I saw that the Region of the Player is set to 1. I want to reset it to 5 as I am located in India now(I had bought the laptop in the US earlier). I checked that my user has Administrator Privileges(from Control Panel --> User Accounts). I also have Changes Remaining = 4 , in the DVD Player. There, when I tried to change the region to 5, it gives error with message "DVD Region change error - Please check that you have Administrator Privileges and there is a media in the drive". Then I put a region 5 media, e.g a CD into the drive and tried to change the region again, but it again gives the same error. Can anybody please help me , how to change the region to 5 ? Inspite of having a DVD+RW player, I am unable to play any DVDs/CDs, how sad ! Please help... Follow 4 answers 4 Report Abuse Are you sure you want to delete this answer?
