Device Descriptor Read/8 Error 110
2/3 device descriptor read64, error -110 I am trying to install Ubuntu Server 10.10 on a Dell XPS-9000. Previous versions worked as this was my NC for UEC. With 10.10 after the install and reboot I get the error USB 2/3 device descriptor read64, error -110 three times followed by usb-2/3 device not accepting address 4, error -110 usb-2/3 device not accepting address 5, error -110 hub 2-0:1.0 unable to enumerate usb device on port 3 followed by a second series referring to usb-7/1 hub 7-0:1.0 unable to enumerate devices on port 1 I can not use the keyboard. The keyboard worked fine during the install and when I installed another competing Linux the keyboard and mouse worked fine after the install. Can anyone tell me what's going on? I guess it is something to do with how the kernel interacts with / sets up the USB sys

The Wi-Fi USB dongle connected to the front panel which usually (not sure about always) does not get powered during boot. It seems the issue is power related, which is a bit of a mystery: All the USB devices work fine on Windows every time, my PSU is pretty beefy, and more importantly, I'd been running Arch Linux with the same hardware for months before this problem occurred. People have suggested at least disabling USB autosuspension, some old_scheme_first magic setting, disabling ehci_hcd and turning it off and on again, but with no explanation I'm reluctant to try "fixing by accident." Does anyone know a well explained solution or some way to debug this in more detail, or some way to debug this in more detail? apropos -a usb log returns nothing, and it seems quite difficult to know which one of my 7+ USB devices is to blame. was unable to supply enough power to the device so it was shut down. This may also shut down the entire hub that the device is connected to. This can happen even if the hub has its own external power. This can be confusing because even though the USB host may shut down the hub, the hub's power light may remain lit.
