It completely screwed up my network connection. Environment: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 I've searched all over the net and tried various fixes, including many from this site: DHCP Client - "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified" when I try to start it in the Services. All dependencies are there: AFD, Tdx (NetIO), Network Store Interface Service. I've tried sfc /scannow and came up clean. netsh int ip reset C:\reset.log netsh winsock reset catalog Added permissions to registry keys for dhcp and tcpip. Device Manager (show hidden) has AFD, tdx, NSI all running and set to start at boot. Restore points are gone, so not a possible solution. Thanks in advance! Vista Business SP2. I'm facing a issue with the DHCP Client Service, when i try to start the service it says dhcp error xbox one "Windows could not start the DHCP Client service on local computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified ". I tried running "sfc /scannow " as a administrator, but no luck. I did http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/484971/dhcp-client-error-2/ go thru the forums to find a similar issue, but strangely no one has reported anything as such (or i didnt search thoroughly) I do not have a DHCP server, i do assign static IPs for all systems. Please help me to understand this issue and fix it. Thanks in advance. Chances are if you go to start / run/ services.msc and try to start the DHCP services it will not start. Next if you go into device manager and go to View / show hidden devices, you will notice under " non plug n play devices " that net bios over tcp is not listed.I had a similar event after hours of spending on why I cant pick up an IP address and not being able to start the DHCP client I came to the conclusion it must be a dependencyI did find that you need three things to be running for DHCP to workhere is the solution for me it was a matter of copying the file from a working computer and slamming into the drivers folder in system32SymptomDHCP Client Service may not automatically.
