After that's loaded up, go diablo 2 to the display tab and click the "Text DirectDraw" button. It sounds like there might be an issue with your current video card drivers. If the test fails, try to find some new drivers for your video card on the Internet (preferably from the manufacturers website). Did this just start happening recently?
