First, when i run INSTALL.EXE, i get this message:"No program start menu found"I managed to get around this by editing a registry. But right after I've chosen install directory, I get a new message:"Error in script file SetupDat\inst.ins, line 14: undefined symbol (desktop)."I googled this and found someone who solved it, but it http://www.gamespot.com/forums/pc-mac-linux-society-1000004/diablo-2-install-fails-in-vista-25691704/ was in Wine and I guess that's only for Linux users. So, anyone know what to do? Neither SetupDat or inst.ins shows up in a search of the CD contents. smoothanddeadlyMember Since: June 20, 2004Posts: 59smoothanddeadlyFollowForum Posts: 59Followed by: 0Reviews: 0 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#2 Posted by smoothanddeadly (59 posts) - 9 years, 3 months ago Did you try running the .exe file in Win XP compatibility mode? But I got it working a while ago. I installed it on another computer (running Windows XP), copied the files to my computer and manually ran VideoTest once again, and it works good enough so I can log on to Battle.net and keep my characters from expiring =) Ein-7919Member Since: August 16, 2003Posts: 3490Ein-7919FollowForum Posts: 3490Followed by: 0Reviews: 0 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#4 Posted by Ei

i'm trying to install diablo 2 onto my computer and for some reason after i go through play on linux to download the game, insert the cinematics disc and get the screen telling me to select where my cd-rom is mounted, i get a message saying cd-rom cannot be found no matter what option i choose. (it gives the options of cdrom cdrom0 and other) NSLW Saturday 19 September 2009 at 8:28 NSLW So where did you download your diablo 2? gparobbins Friday 2 October 2009 at 6:03 gparobbins Hello, I also tried to install Diablo II on the way to install DIablo II LOD. I received the same error when it mentions to install the CINEMATICS disk first which I found odd, I would have thought to use the install disk first as a normal windows installation. Anyway my cdrom gets mounted as "/media/CINEMATICS". I tried all different variations but the error "Error: Unable to find the CD-ROM!" keeps coming up. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! However it just flipped through the discs as fast as I could get the discs ejected and inserted. I never get to see an actual installation of the software and it was too fast even to be a copy of software from the disc's. ON GETTING DISCS EJECTED: (maybe all this goes away once I can do the actual install) When instructed to insert other discs at beginning of process with the instruction of: Please insert "Install disc", if you try to eject the previous disc it cannot be done because the PlayOnLinux software has the drive being used and you cannot unmount it until you press "Forward" (instructions say press "Next" button which I cannot locate ;-) ) which you can then eje
