Please follow the below steps or click below link or : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943996 System Restore affects Windows system files, programs, and registry settings. It can also make changes to scripts, batch files, and other types of executable files created under any user account on your computer. System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos, so it cannot help you restore a deleted file. If you have backups of your files, you can restore the files from a backup. System Restore automatically recommends the most recent restore point created before a significant change, such as installing a program. You can also choose from a list of restore points. Try using restore points created just before the date and time you started noticing problems. The descriptions of the restore points that are created automatically correspond with the name of an event, such as Windows Update installing an update. Syst

Windows Could Not Start The Diagnostic Policy Service Error 5 Windows 82013-08-29,18:20 #1 JJDetroit View Profile View Forum Posts 5 Star Lounger Join Date May 2003 Location Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Posts 627 Thanks 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts How to fix "Error http://www.plusdigit.com/2015/03/19/how-to-solve-error-5-access-is-denied-for-diagnostic-policy-service/ 5: Access is denied" Got a call from a non-profit group I assist, that one of their desktop PC's was acting up (Vista Home Basic 32-bit). First thing I noticed was that it wouldn't make a network connection. Right clicked on the network icon in the Taskbar and selected Diagnose and Repair. Got a message that Network Diagnostics cannot run because the Diagnostics Policy Service is not running. http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showthread.php/156457-How-to-fix-quot-Error-5-Access-is-denied-quot Opened Service Control Manager to try and start that service, and got a message that Windows could not start the service on Local Computer, followed by Error 5: Access is denied. A Full Scan with Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials found nothing. From an F8 start, System Repair did not help, and every System Restore point I tried failed, as far back as they went. There's a Windows Update icon showing in the Taskbar, but when I try to open that, it shows Windows Update has never been run (and can't run now, of course, because networking is munged up). Computer Properties says SP2 is installed. Any suggestions? Error 5: Access Denied Windows 10 up vote 0 down vote favorite Today I was brought a computer that was having issues getting to the C:\ (The user was getting a similar access denied error, I was able to give him control and he can now get into that). I then looked and saw that the computer was showing that is wasn't connected to the internet so I tried to run the diagnostic on it and it came back telling me that the Diagnostic Policy Service was not running and it could not perform diagnostics otherwise. However when I go to the services and try to run the DPS service, I get the Error 5: Access id denied error. I have attempted to change the "Log On" tab to the LOCAL SYSTEM however that gave me Windows could not start the Diagnostic Policy Service service on Local Computer. Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running the same process The user account is part of the Administrator group. I ran the "sc qc DPS" in CMD (as admin) and it came back with [SC] QueryServiceConfig SUCCESS SERVICE_NAME: DPS TYPE: : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS START_TYPE : 2 AUTO_START ERROR_CONTROL : 1 NORMAL BINARY_PATH_NAME : C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalServiceNoNetwork LOAD_ORDER_GROUP : TAG : 0 DISPLE_NAME : Diagnostic Policy Service DEPENDENCIES : SERVICE_START_NAME : NT AUTHORITY\LocalService One of the solutions I was looking at mentioned something about changing the file path, but I was unsure of how to go about that and didn't want to end up causing more damage to anything service windows-10 share|improve this question asked Dec 17 '15 at 16:30 ALearningExperince 33 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer?
