Yesterday morning I decided it was time to upgrade... or so I thought. I downloaded the newest version I could find at txview.dll in use the time (February 2010). February did not install with an error of S1010 and a suggestion that the user should try reinstalling later. Searching for a while I found someone mention that they download with Google Chrome and it installed for them. I did that and was greeted with error code S1023 90% of the way through the full install. I got up today and found out that just yesterday June 2010 was released... it still won't install. Here are all of the things I have tried based on many, many web pages all without avail: * Uninstall previous versions of the SDK. * Turn off any anti-virus and firewalls. * Turn off the Windows Audio service in Start>Programs> Administrator Tools>Services. * Turn off Valve's Steam. (Apparently it uses DirectSound...) * Tried downloading with IE, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera. (and re-downloading in general) * Open up the properties and turn off the a security warning. * Ru

on April 5, 2010 by digitalerr0r I tried to install the February 2010 version of the DirectX SDK today but ran into troubles. I downloaded the SDK from msdn using IE8, and got the installer https://digitalerr0r.wordpress.com/2010/04/05/problems-installing-the-directx-sdk-error-s1010/ started. After a few seconds of the installation progress, I got the error http://joytek.blogspot.com/2009/11/installing-directx-sdk-error-s1010.html S1010 and the installation was terminated. After searching around for the error message, I found the solution. Download the SDK using another browser. I fired up chrome and started the download again, and started the installer. Guess what, it worked! Can someone explain this please?😛 Anyway, I decided to directx sdk put the solution on this blog in case anyone of you are having the same issues. already had Windows XP SP3 installed as the operating system. The software I needed to install for development purposes were the following: .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Visual Studio 2008 DirectX SDK (Aug 2009) Every one of those installations gave me trouble. None of the above installed without hassle. I managed to get .NET Framework and Visual Studio 2008 installed after numerous tries, but DXSDK just wouldn't install. I couldn't find a solution to why the SDK wouldn't install. I tried a few different things without luck. The SDK installation exe file was downloaded with IE8. I then tried, as a last resort, and downloaded the file with Firefox instead. And guess what. The SDK installed without a problem! How strange is that? I have verified by downloading the SDK again several times with IE8 on that computer and that downloaded file just doesn't work. The files are identical in byte size as the picture below shows (The text is in Swedish): Both file sizes are 580,228,040 bytes. (The only noticeable difference between the files is the Security Block showing up beneath Attributes. However, I removed the Security Blockage and tried installing it without any success).
