Anyway, is there a way to turn off that goddamn beep whenever you do something on the Bash? Since it is not possible to comment out bell-style audible because is not there, nor it's possible to launch sc config beep start= disabled Thx in advance bash windows-10 wsl share|improve this question edited Apr 19 at 17:31 Cyrus 23.7k22141 asked Apr 19 at 16:26 Andrea Tulimiero 434314 5 This Q is not about programming as defined for StackOverflow. It may be more appropriate on the related sites superuser.com OR unix.stackexchange.com (Unix & Linux). Consider using the flag link at the bottom of your Q and ask the moderator to move it. Please don't post the same Q on 2 different sites. Thanks and Good Luck. –shellter Apr 19 at 16:32 2 Can't you set bell-style none in your readline init file? That's 1. the value of the INPUTRC environment variable, 2. ~/.inputrc or 3. /etc/inputrc. –Benjamin W. Apr 19 at 16:34 @shellter you're right I'll move it ! –Andrea Tulimiero Apr 19 at 16:51 In the meanwhile @BenjaminW. I've set bell-style none in /etc/inputrc but it didn't work –Andrea Tulimiero Apr 19 at 17:04 /etc/inputrc is ignored if you have a ~/.inputrc, do you have one? Or INPUTRC pointing elsewhere? –Benjamin W. Apr 19 at 17:05 | show 3 more comments 4 Answers 4 act

I'm working on a PowerShell script right now which ends up printing several lines of text to the screen. I'm working out a bug in the encoding logic. But every time I'm wrong my script will spew a bunch of random binary characters to the screen and eventually cause many annoying beeps. The failure is quite obvious without the beeps :) windows powershell cmd.exe share|improve this question edited Jul 21 '14 at 8:15 Oliver Salzburg♦ 56.1k35185245 disable error beep asked Oct 31 '08 at 7:31 JaredPar 511147 migrated from stackoverflow.com Jul 22 '09 at 5:04 This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers. 3 thanks for this question.
