Does it do the same when you try ini_set('error_reporting',0); ? –J A May 22 '12 at 23:34 2 Define "did not worked". –deceze May 22 '12 at 23:36 put 'phpinfo();' after that and check what the error settings are under 'core' –Sp4cecat May 22 '12 at 23:38 "I placed it into my website" WHERE did you place it? What file? –Paul Dessert May 22 '12 at 23:43 "It doesn't work" doesn't explain the problem enough. You need to elaborate on your input, expected and actual outcomes, or concretise error messages. In particular if you imply you still got error messages. And no, fatal/parsing errors cannot be trapped as that command would be executed afterwards. –mario May 22 '12 at 23:45 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 38 down vote Tried this yet? error_reporting(0); @ini_set('display_errors', 0); share|improve this answer answered May 22 '12 at 23:36 belgianguy 43135 add a comment| up vote 6 down vote Does this work? display_errors = Off Also, what version of php are you using? share|improve this answer answered May 22 '12 at 23:38 Jrom 548416 add a comment| up vote 5 down vote Read up on the configuration settings (e.g., display_errors, display_st

Still, errors are generally there for a reason - you'd presumably like to know when your cron script breaks! Try handling the errors gracefully. –ceejayoz Oct 29 '09 at 18:43 Somewhere related: stackoverflow.com/questions/4330494/… –trante Sep 7 '12 at 13:57 add a comment| 6 Answers 6 active oldest votes up vote 113 down vote accepted When you are sure your script is perfectly working, you can get rid of Warning and notices like this: Put this line at the beginning of your php script: error_reporting(E_ERROR); Before that, when working on your script, i would advise you to properly debug your script so that all notice or warning disappear one by one. So you should first set it as verbose as possible with: error_reporting(E_ERROR | E_WARNING | E_PARSE | E_NOTICE); UPDATE : how to log errors instead of displaying them As suggested in the comments, the better solution is to log errors into a file so only the php developer sees the error messages, not the users. A possible implementation is via the .htaccess file, useful if you don't have access to the php.ini file (source). # supress php errors php_flag display_startup_errors off php_flag display_errors off php_flag html_errors off php_value docref_root 0 php_value docref_ext 0 # enable PHP error logging php_flag log_errors on php_value error_log /home/path/public_html/domain/PHP_errors.log # prevent access to PHP error log

You should change also the error_reporting value if you don't want to have the messages informing you about the error. You should try this for all errors error_reporting = off or error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED this will keep letting you know about the errors but they will be invisible to other users.. share|improve this answer edited Jan 3 '13 at 2:08 answered Jan 2 '13 at 23:18 Jack 1065 Thanks but how do I change it within the php.ini file as opposed to a php file? –PeanutsMonkey Jan 2 '13 at 23:23 Just be sure to continue logging the errors, otherwise you will wish you did when something bad happens. –Bort Jan 3 '13 at 0:19 @PeanutsMonkey can't you edit the php.ini file with an editor??i guessed the server was at your machine. –Jack Jan 3 '13 at 0:20 @Jack - Yes it is. I thought that error_reporting(0); is limited to PHP files not the php.ini file. –PeanutsMonkey Jan 3 '13 at 1:43 @Jack - I put the line of code
