Yesterday I left my laptop only to return to the below...No new software or hardware changes were made and no viruses or malware showed on my daily scan this week...When Windows XP tries to load, I get the following message: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. 0 Hi everyone, am looking for some advice for our laptop that randomly went kaput, the laptop in question is: HP Pavillion dv9000 Intel Core2 CPU T5500 1660MHz Processor 1024MB Total Mem Bios v. F.02 Everything was working fine yesterday and the computer was shut down correctly. When I went to start Windows today, the following error occurred: The windows logo appeared with the rolling timer and then it stopped and it said Windows had not shut down properly and I had a few options to try and load up windows in safe mode, or last known settings etc. I've tried all options but they all arrive at the BSOD with the error, "unmountable boot https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/1-07-fail-on-a-drive-i-need-to-back-up-help-please-318847/ volume". I then tried the following: Went through to recovery mode using a Win XP Pro installation CD Tried chkdsk, error message: "The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems." Tried fixboot, error message: "Fixboot cannot find the system drive, or the drive specified is not valid." Tried fixmbr, nothing happens and just returns to C: prompt. Tried bootcfg /scan, error message: "Failed to successfully scan disks for Windows installation. This error may be caused by https://neosmart.net/forums/threads/laptop-hd-dead.3037/ a corrupt file system, which would prevent Bootcfg from successfully scanning. Use chkdsk to detect any disk errors." Tried running a Primary HD Self Test through Bios, error message: " #1- 07 Fail" I then tried repairing WinXP via installation CD again and when you get to the screen that should show the C: drive with the installation of XP on it, it just says, "Unknown Disk

When running the NTFS format the laptop froze, so i rebooted. Now i cant even load the disk, it seems very slow running the initial boot check too. i ran the HD test in the BIOS and i was given the error report '#1-07 fail error' which apparently means the boot sector is knackered. Windows did not restart..., hard drive self testfailed ByGobeerbuy Mar 25, 2006 Hi all, I throw myself at the mercy of your collective knowledge for some help. My Laptop decided to crash suddenly, now on attempting to restart I get the Windows did not restart properly screen, and no matter which of the options I choose, after a short time the blue screen apears for a split second and the machine tries to restart again. I accessed the "setup" option prior to start up and ran the Hard drive self test, which FAILED (hash)1 - 07. Usefully I have the details of an e-ticket I rather urgently need in my outlook. I cannot find my recovery CD (XP pro). What can I do? Any advice???? Thanks Mar 25, 2006 #1 Nodsu TS Rookie Posts: 5,837 +6 The hard drive self-test failed..
