Re: Error 10H SafeBoot Dec 30, 2009 12:54 PM (in response to ozmaan) it's a BIOS error, so the exact meaning depends on your BIOS. usually it means the hard drive has failed (dropped perhaps?) - you might be able to soft-recover it with WinTech etc, but you might have to send it off for repair/disaster recovery. let it cool down for a bit and try again, some drives get cranky when they get hot. ESD. Verify that the hard drive is properly connected to the computer. http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000454.htm The back of the hard drive should have two cables connected to it, the IDE cable and the power cable. Verify these two cables are firmly connected to the back of the hard drive. Next, verify that the IDE cable is connected to the motherboard. Finally, if this is a new hard disk error drive or another IDE drive has been connected to the computer, verify that the jumpers are properly set. Hard drive not setup in CMOS properly Verify that the CMOS setup for the hard drive is properly setup. The computer hard drive settings should either be defined, or if the computer is a hard disk error Pentium or higher the hard drive should be defined as Auto. Hard drive cable is bad If the above two recommendations do not resolve the issue, replace the IDE cable or switch the cable with a known good IDE or EIDE cable. Other bad hardware If you continue to experience the same issue after following the above recommendations, likely either the hard drive or the motherboard's IDE interface is bad. We recommend replacing the hard drive. If this does not resolve the issue then unfortunately the connector on the motherboard is bad and it should be replaced.
