USA Posts disk error 1 1790 - Disk 0 Error on boot-up My PC is a Compaq Deskpro 2000. OS - Win98/Second Edition. I just installed a new Wetern Digital hard drive, and now when I boot up I get a 1790 - Disk 0 error, Press F1 to boot. When F1 is pressed, the PC boots up and windows 98 works, but the secondary IDE controller (the one my CD-rom is on) is not working.I looked in Device Manager, and it has the little yellow & Black disk error 1790 ! exclamation point. (device not present - not working properly or doesn't have all the drivers installed) If I boot from Win 98 Start-up disk w/ CD-rom support, CD works fine. Thanks for any help on this ! Ken B. Hard drive is only 10 gig. Will try BIOS setup. Can you tell me what drive 1790 disk error is referring to? is it the hard drive?
