I am trying to make a dban floppy from my vista machine. When it runs, the program formats the floppy then puts its software on it. Vista is giving me access denied errors. UAC is already turned off (it has been since day 2). This is happening with multiple programs, not just dban so it shouldn't be the download. I have also tried many different floppys. Any insight on how to turn this crap off is greatly appreciated. The exact error is: Windows Error N. 5 Access is denied. Then Disk error no 69 on track 0, head 0 Access is denied. I dont think Vista has anything built in to stop making floppy disks. Yesterday I tried to save something onto floppy and it didn't work. I haven't used http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?79521-Vista-denying-floppy-making-software the drive for years, and the disks were just a few I had laying around - each of the discs failed in the same manner. I inserted a disk into my floppy drive then went to start > my computer, then right clicked a: and chose format. I got an error message : 'Disk error on track 0, head 0 Address mark not found' Same thing with all three disks. I found a clever looking bit of kit called Floppy Disk Formatter v3.1c http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/floppy-disk-problems.70645/ (FFormat) which I downloaded and installed. I tried to use that to format my disks, and again all three disks failed in the same way. It gets to 50% successfully, then I get a message 'Trying to rebuild track 0', then eventually I get the message 'This disk could not be formatted: unrecoverable error on system area or uncompatible format mode'. I have searched google for answers but on this occassion it has come up very short. My PCs file system is NTFS, and from what I can see the floppies are FAT but I don't think that alone would cause the problem. As all 3 disks have repeated the same messages and errors, I am assuming it is not those at fault. Obvious choice would be needing to replace the drive, but I thought I'd try here first for ideas. I will also try the disks in someone else's PC later when I get the chance. It is worth noting that since I last used the floppy drive I have reformatted the HD. I didn't have a recovery disk, so used someone's XP Media Edition (mine was XP home standard) and then picked up the drivers I needed from the Hewlett-Packard website. Did I miss one that would cause this problem, or is there something I should be looking for? I hope I have included all the necessary information, and that someone will be able to help me out Thanks in advance. Sep 6, 20

I'm trying to create a "F6" floppy to load AHCI sw before installing Windows Vista but the exe file "F6flpy32.exe" fails with the 2 errors: 1. Windows error n. 5 Access is Denied 2. Disk Error n° 69 on track 0 head 0 Access is Denied Is WinImage incompatable with Windows Vista? I can create the same "F6" floppy on a Windows XP PC. The current WinImage kit is version 8.1; that's the first version for which the web site claims Vista compatibility. From the 8.1 readme: there is two new feature on 8.10: - WinImage can open somes VMWare VMDK file (feedback welcome) - when installed under Windows Vista/Longhorn, a second "Administrator" icon is created to get all feature that need administrator right - WinImage can create a VMDK file from a physical drive Joe Morris Joe Morris, Mar 19, 2008 #2 Advertisements Mrlopez Guest "Joe Morris" wrote: > "Mrlopez" <> wrote in: > > > Is WinImage incompatable with Windows Vista? > > At what version? I then went to the web to download WinImage 8.10 (The latest version) and rebuilt the .exe file and that one failed to format and write a floppy as well. At this point all I can do is use the WinImage app to extract WinImage files and write them to a floppy manuall
