Non System Disk Or Disk Error
Hit F1 to Resume - Problem Solved Discussion in 'Motherboards' started by nasttcar, Feb 25, 2007. Thread reboot and select proper boot device Status: Not open for further replies. nasttcar Senior member Joined: Apr 11, 2003 Messages: 335 Likes Received: 0 Problem Solved: Put the Sata drive on chkdsk a black connector and all is well. This is part of a new install where I am having trouble getting older 40gb IDE drive and 500gb SATA drive to coexist. On boot the computer pauses and says 'No IDE Master HDD Detected http://www.easeus.com/resource/external-hard-drive-not-formatted.htm - Press F1 to Continue' When I hit F1, WinXP Pro startups off of the drive it said was not detected. When I go to Computer Mgmt, it shows both drives. I run diagnostics on the 40gb drive and it shows it as the Master on the IDE cable and the DVD drive as the slave. The utility says the drive is operating properly. I am running the latest BIOS for the MB. I have the 500 gb drive on SATA 4 - which https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/startup-says-no-ide-master-hdd-detected-hit-f1-to-resume-problem-solved.2016244/ is a data channel. In the Bios I have JMicron SATA/PATA Controller Enabled, and JMicron SATA Controller Mode set as IDE If I unplug the SATA drive, then the computer boots up without issue or pauses. Very baffeling. Please help. #1 nasttcar, Feb 25, 2007 GuitarDaddy Lifer Joined: Nov 9, 2004 Messages: 11,466 Likes Received: 0 Couple of ideas for you to check 1. I used the Jmicron driver from the Jmicron website, as I heard it worked better than the one on the mobo CD or asus's website. It has worked well for me, but I have the opposite config. I'm booting from an sata drive and have an older IDE drive for storage, I also have an sata DVD so the storage drive is the only thing on the IDE channel. 2. Check your boot menu in bios to make sure the IDE drive is listed before the sata drive in boot priority. #2 GuitarDaddy, Feb 25, 2007 nasttcar Senior member Joined: Apr 11, 2003 Messages: 335 Likes Received: 0 Solved the problem. Did a google search for 'No IDE Master', and saw alot occurences of this issue. Found one that took me to the Asus site and a FAQ. The solution said to plug my Sata drive into a black connector. Voila, did the trick, although it sure seems alot slower loading everything up. I also get a big ASUS screen that says P5B during bootup that I never got before. I do think I will

As it says there is only 137GB on a 2TB Drive, unless you used up 1.8TB of data, sounds like HDD failure. Easiest checks would be 1) Try disconnecting and reconnect the cable disk error windows to a different SATA port 2) Disconnect the drive and try in another computer The second will prove / disprove the issue fully (failed drive). If under warranty you should seek a RMA - YES YOUR DATA IS LOST, unless you want to void the warranty and send it to a Professional Data Recovery service which starts in the $1000s and up, and will rip apart the physical drive to get at the platters storing your data. Share Dipayan 8 July 2014 19:29:36 Thanks.I think the hdd is gone for good.Due to no smart error i didn't back it up like my other hard drive. My study notes, music, pics all are lost as i cant afford data recovery. m 0 l Can't find your answer ? Replace" Press F1 to Resume error indicates that the hard drive is about to fail or has already failed. The S.M.A.R.T. system is a utility that monitors the "health" of the hard drive and reports any potential problems. As an early warning system, it allows the computer owner time to back up any important files before the hard drive fails. In the above example, the error message indicates that the Pri Master or Primary Master hard drive is the drive that is bad. If there is more than one hard drive in the computer, this error may change depending on the bad drive. If the computer can boot after pressing the F1 key immediately backup all information on the computer and contact the hard drive manufacturer for replacement or additional help. In some very rare cases, the S.M.A.R.T. implementation on your computer may have issues of its own and may need to be patched before replacing the hard drive. If you press the F1 key and the computer cannot boot, one or more of the files on the computer that are required to boot may be corrupted. It may still be possible to recover some of the data on the hard drive. You need to boot from another disk like an UBCD or Linux LiveCD, which you can create on another computer. Once you've booted to an alternate location the files may still be accessible on the bad drive, and if accessible they can be moved to an alternative location such as a USB jump drive. If I get a S.M.A.R.T. error is it ok if I continue to use my hard drive? As stated above, S.M.A.R.T. is designed to detect upcoming failures in the hard drive. While the hard drive may not fail for several months, it is still inevitable that the hard drive will fail. It is ok to continue to use the hard drive, however, we highly recommend that if you are still under warranty that you consider getting the drive replaced before your warranty runs out. Tip: Many users can also enable or disable the S.M.A.R.T detection through their CMOS setup. 1720 - smart hard drive detects imminent failure This error message is related to S.M.A.R.T and is an indication of failure.
