Disk Or Network Error Access 2003
by: Run Time Error 3043 Microsoft Office for Developers > Access for Developers Question 0 Sign in to vote I have an access application on the network which is used by approximately 4 - 5 people. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/160907 Its been in use for about 5 years but recently the application has been causing trouble for users. For instance drop down menus sometimes display "#Error" when they should be retreiving info from the database. Users have also beencomplaining of the application lagging and hanging and crashing in some instances. Also, a runtime error 3043has occurred on a number of occassions. The database is split into f/e and b/e. Could it https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/561d0b44-d1e5-4e10-96f5-97eefc10edc3/run-time-error-3043?forum=accessdev bea hardware issue? The computers in question are quite old. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I faced it before some times while our IT guys were making some network-related works. And the hanging and lagging you see is the same issue. And crashing is the consequence of the network signal break. I'm not sure about #Error values but it (in theory) may be caused by these network issues too. Is there any WAN segments in your network? What is the approximate topology? Or do you just have LAN wired 100Mconnection everywhere?Andrey V Artemyev | Saint-Petersburg, Russia Marked as answer by Bruce Song Wednesday, May 18, 2011 6:05 AM Thursday, May 12, 2011 12:04 PM Reply | Quote All replies 2 Sign in to vote Hi, Run-time Error #3043 is almost definetely means problems with connection. One of my clients is running a splitted FE/BE application, disk or about 6-7 users, BE size about 100 MB. In the last weeks the error is coming more and more often. After closing the DB and reopening everything is just fine. But the data entered in the currently open form is lost. At first this happened once a day, now every 90 minutes - which is very annoying for the users. The web is full of possible solutions and workarounds, but nothing really works or helps to clear this issue. ms-access share|improve this disk or network question asked Feb 14 '11 at 22:18 dwo 3,16611433 What OS is hosting the backend file and what OS(s) are running your frontend? Do all the workstations have this problem and do they all show this behavior at the same time? Any reason to believe it might be related to the lock file? Do some machines have more than one entry in the lock file when this occurs (you can read the lock file with Notepad++)? –HK1 Feb 15 '11 at 15:22 Today I've been on site at the client and found out the following: the station with the highest occurence (by far) of the problem is a Win7 64 bit AND (here comes) offline folders enabled. I turned off the offline thing and hopes this will make things better. –dwo Feb 15 '11 at 17:45 Are there other file servers available? One quick test would be to move the back end to a different server. I've seen this fix problems like this, usually because the network settings were different (the most likely candidate is the NetBIOS over TCP/IP setting, actually). –David-W-Fenton Feb 16 '11 at 3:00 No other servers there. But thanks for the tip with NetBIOS! –dwo Feb 16 '11 at 12:48 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted From what I've seen this is usually an intermittently flaky network. Trouble is there can be many
