Press CTRL ALT DEL to restartCourtney, Thanks very much for posting this potential fix. It sounds like it IS the fix for this issue however I can't verify it because I searched for a solution for four days http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/19004/?o=280 when I first ran into this error message. I didn't find one so I finally had to do a complete format and re-install from scratch... after I had taken out the damaged hard drive and placed it in one of my USB external enclosures. Thankfully, I was able to read the drive contents and saved all of it. Bottom line -- lots of extra work to do this and it would have been really neat to solve this in the beginning with a solution like yours! But there is a life lesson here for me -- Back up every three days. Thanks again for your post. Chase Courtney Johnson said: First I'd like to thank everyone for the suggestions offered, which pointed towards this fix, which I haven't seen here. - Download Hiren's BootCD 8.8 (I'll leave it up to you to find it...). Burn and boot into it. When you see the menu, select 'Next', then select MBR Tools, and finally Partition Table Doctor. OR - Get the latest version from ptdd.com. Select the 'faulty' HDD. If PTD detected some sort of error, you'll see a little 'x' besides the partition number. Select that partition, click on 'Operations' and then 'fixboot'. If everything goes according to plan, you should get something like 'Congrats PTD successfully fixed your partition!' Reboot and voila, XP starts without any actual HDD mod/conversion/... Hope this helps out a few of you guys. Edit: Also

After it was done installing a message came up:Disk Read Error, hit any key to restart. It would not https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1232043?tstart=0 restart by hitting any key. I rebooted and ejected the Windows install disk. Leopard started up. I looked in my bootcamp drive and apparently things were installed in it. I clicked into system preferences and choose toreboot with windows. Again, after it rebooted i got the same disk read error message. Now upon rebooting it just goes back to this message; i can't even get back to leopard. Did i need to install certain drivers before making this fatal error? How can i disk read get back to leopard?
