Asus Disk Read Error Occurred
This post has been reported. Hi When I try and start up my Windows XP I asus disk unlocker get this message "Disk read error occurred press Ctl+Alt =Del to restart. Every time I restart I get the same message. Does anyone have any ideas about a disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart asus the steps I should take in an attempt to fix this problem. Hi Found the original Windows XP installation disk, turned the PC on, inserted the CD a number of times but all I get is the same message "Disk read error occurred press Ctl+Alt =Del to restart" Tried rebooting, installing CD, but only get the same message. Do I need a new hard drive? If not is it just dead? lotvic 13:56 11 Jul 13 Try switching off the laptop by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds, then disconnect the mains lead and remove laptop battery (so there is absolutely no power to laptop) next hold down the power button for about 30 seconds (to drain any residual power and clear the volatile memory) now put battery back in and connect the mains and switch on. This may clear the fault or instigate a 'Check Disk' (Chkdsk command) that will check the disk for errors. Post back with what happens after

Comments The “A disk read error has occurred” error is an extremely dreadful error message that appears as soon as a computer boots up and does not allow an affected computer to boot into its Operating System, essentially locking the user out of the computer. In its fullest form, this error message reads “A desk read error has occurred.
