Hi all, Lately I have been having a problem with my graphics card. It worked fine until I tried installing another game, namely Colin Mcrae Dirt II. After installing the game it did not work on this machine and it also did not work on another machine. However the computer running Windows XP SP2 (The first one) now comes up with an error with any game. I un-installed the game and also Direct X 10 and reinstalled Direct X 9.0. I manage to start playing a different game and then after a while I get the error the graphics card error which says: VPU Recover: VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands. Has any one got any ideas? I look forward to your responses... Studio Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top ProstheticHead Posts: 3281 This post has been reported. Studio, hi. Have you tried a System Restore to a point before you installed Dirt2? Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top mickeyblue Posts: 1521 This post has been reported. DIRT 2, installs all sorts of things because it uses DX11, but is able to run on DX10, XP does not use DX10 only DX9c. and its also a VERY GPU hungry game.what graphics card are you using? as PH said try system store before you installed DIRT 2. Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top studio Posts: 198 This post has been reported. I haven't been able to do a system restore prior to the date because there is no system restore points before installing the game that I can access (that I could find). Also the graphics card is: 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO. Thanks Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top mickeyblue Posts: 1521 This post has been reported. yeah thats your problem right there, DIRT 2 will never play on that graphics card. what id do is.....uninstall the current drivers, then re-install the latest from the AMD website. Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top studio Posts: 198 This post has been reported. Thanks, I did as you suggested and I still get the same error playing any games. Does this mean my graphics card is stuffed? thanks, Studio Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top mickeyblue Posts: 1521 This post has been reported. not actually, DIRT 2 probably forced the GPU into a recover mode? when it "pooped" itself when it tried to play DIRT 2 , try this...... o
