I seem to recall making the mistake of installing hardware drivers from Microsoft by accident and that's when this all started. Normally, installing hardware drivers provided by Microsoft is VERBOTEN because they almost always have issues of this sort. Fact is, I was better off with the original drivers that came with Win7 and should have stayed away from the one provided by Windows Update. It was an accident.... Siiiiigh. Maybe installing from the ATI website will sort this mess out..... My System Specs System Manufacturer/Model Number HP DX9000 series laptop (Yes, the one with the 20.1" display....) reported. Hi. I've been here before and found your advice very helpful in most cases. Being a
Atikmdag Bluescreen Windows 7
PC Power user, I really don't like to bother other people with my problems, but this particular problem is VERY annoying and persistent, so I'm atikmdag .sys bluescreen windows 7 here again. I've came here before with this problem, so you can find the details here: http://www.howtogeek.com/forum.....replies=17 However, The reg fix didn't work, reinstalling windows 7 doesn't help, and I've under clocked my Graphics card (Mobility Radon HD 4500 series) to about http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/27233-event-id-43029-52236-a.html half it's capacity (MSI Afterburner; CC= 500, MC= 650). Just to go over it again briefly, the problem is that my laptop crashes randomly at least three times a day now. It is related to the graphics driver (atikmdag.sys) and comes with an error message after every crash that says "Display is not active" (ID= 43029) and is usually preceded by another error that gives the message "CPLIB General - Invalid Parameter" (ID= 52236) Some things I notices about this error:- 1) It happens http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/atikmdag-error-very-persistent randomly, but happens more often when doing graphics intensive work (e.g: Gaming), however, it also seems to crash more often if I do CPU intensive work as well (I noticed it crashes alot when performing a re-check on a big file in uTorrent). 2) The lower I clock the GPU, the less it seems to crash. However, I have move back to a desk and it can crash even when playing games that are ten years old (e.g: Hero Chronicles) 3) This problem is EXTREMELY persistent. Formatting the drive, completely wiping the driver and using another one (old, new, variants, I've tried about every version I can find), reinstalling windows, preforming reg fixes, only down clocking the GPU has helped (It used to crash every half hour otherwise). 4) If you go to atikmdag.com, you'll notice that not only is my problem common, but it's also worst than most. Most people seem to get an error message and their screen blinks. My computer freezes like I've pointed a gun at it, and can only be revived by doing a hard reset (pressing the power button for 5 seconds, then booting up again). 5) In case it helps, it seems to happen most either when idle for a while, or when using adobe flash player while hooked up to a TV via HDMI (great for watching sitcoms). By the way, I use custom hi resoultion flash screensavers using Instant storm, but according to MSI Afterburn, my graphics card hardly notices it, e
old version of atikmdag.sys with an updated copy. Make sure you have your ATi drivers updated. If you are unsure of what you are doing, make https://atikmdag.com/method-10-replacing-the-old-version-of-atikmdagsys-with-an-updated-copy/ sure to have someone who has experience in modifying system files. Navigate to http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/37398-63-display-driver-stopped-responding-recovered-atikmdag your C:Windows\System32\drivers (assuming Windows is installed in C: with default path). Look for atikmdag.sys and hover your mouse over it. If this driver version number is different from the latest driver version, it needs to replaced. So what you do is: 1. Download the latest driver version and extract the display driver contents of the .exe file (this should happen when you double click on the .exe, if not, use 7zip to extract it). 2. Rename your current atikmdag.sys file to atikmdag.sys.old. 3. Look for atikmdag.sy_ in the folder where you extracted the latest drivers. 4. Copy atikmdag.sy_ to WindowsSystem32drivers folder. 5. Open command prompt in Administrator mode (start menu->programs->accessories->right click command prompt->Run as Administrator). display driver atikmdag 6. Navigate to your Windows\System32\drivers folder. (example cd C:\Windows\System32\drivers) 7. Type expand atikmdag.sy_ atikmdag.sys 8. Reboot computer. For most people, this has solved the problem completely. If the problem still exists, don't worry, this method didn't work for me either.
