Disable the S/PDIF if you are outputing audio via HDMI and enable exclusive control and give exclusive mode priority. I also turn off my system sounds and my WMC "sounds" in the settings. Hope this helps!🙂 Reply Jeffery Okada says: July 24, 2014 at 10:25 am Try this fix. Worked for me! support.microsoft.com/kb/976590 Reply Collin Hagewood says: October 2, 2014 at 1

Display Driver Error: The video playback device does not support playback of protected content. I upgraded my processor from an AMD A6 7400K dual core to an A10 7700K quad core and replaced my 2 1TB drives (configured as Drive D) with one 2TB drive. Now I receive the above error when I try to watch live TV with WMC. The channel views display driver error for a few seconds then displays the error (see attached picture). Everything else is the same. I'm using a Ceton infiniTV 4 tuner card and a Comcast cable card which I had reconfigured/ activated with no change. I went through the cable setup again with no change. I found out if I "Restore Down" the WMC window the playback mysteriously starts working again. Then I "Restore Up (Maximize)" window again and everything is fine. I haven't figured out exactly when it stops again.
