We have to try several times before the application will start. We also get a Divide-by-Zero/Overflow error. We found foxpfix.exe, and it's enabled. FoxPro for Windows doesn't perform like a true Windows http://windowsitpro.com/hardware/foxpro-windows-problems application because it doesn't use the basic Windows API. It acts more like a 16-bit DOS application. You can use Citrix's foxpfix.exe utility to fix some of the graphics problems, but you still need to tame foxr.exe using application tuning. Foxpfix.exe is enabled by default, but I find that it's often better to disable it. Here are some tips for tuning the application. You'll need to use Performance Monitor to adjust these hexadecimal numbers according to your needs, but the settings are usually close for most applications. Using regedt32.exe, create the subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Terminal Server/Compatibility/Applications/foxr With a "d word," create the values Flags = 0 x C FirstCountMsqQPeeksSleepBadApp = 1F MsgQBadAppSleepTimeInMillisec = 0 x 1 Nthcountmsgqpeeksleepbadapp = F One mistake I've seen is that people tune the compiled application name (e.g., account.exe) instead of foxr.exe. Tuning account.exe does nothing— foxr.exe is the problem application. To tune the memory, create a foxpro.pif or shortcut file that calls a unique config.nt file. You can copy the system config.nt to the application directory and add mem=60 1024,8192. The addition sets FoxPro to use u
help us! How we could eliminate the 'Divide by zero or overflow error' message from Foxpro for Winows version 2.5 run- time application? I found I patch file but that support only version 2. 6a. We have http://computer-programming-forum.com/2-vfp/ad11298fe60cf3e4.htm Visual Forpro 6.0 licence but we couldnt convert this application into the new version, because of a colour set trouble of a screen. I managed to patch FPW 2.5 by searching for the Hex code sequence that the DZPATCH (Foxfix.prg) modifies using a Hex editor and then editing the code by hand. Not forgetting to make a backup first ! Fortunately the code sequence appears to be unique. Not sure if it will work for the runtime version, but it did the trick OK for foxprow.exe (2.5). -- Tue, 21 Jun 2005 04:22:04 GMT Page 1 of 1 [ 3 post ] Relevant Pages 1. Divide by Zero e
computer with WinXP Media; therefore, to solve the problem I thought I could purchase a new laptop, install Win 98, use the patch for the higher speed, and I would not have a problem. Do you agree? AnswerRichard, You may need to run a program called Foxstart11.exe to avoid the "Divide by Zero or Overflow" error There is a thread on this same discussion at http://www.dbforums.com/archive/index.php/t-405245.html You'll find Foxstart11.exe at http://www.disaconus.disa.mil/tsre/TrbShoot/Starting.htm Good Luck, Carla There is also a patch for 2.6. PATCH_26.exe is a self-extracting executable file that updates the FoxPro for Windows version 2.6a development environment and run time to stop startup errors that are raised on computers that operate at clock speeds of about 333 MHz and faster. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=240982 Microsoft also has a list of patches for foxpro PATCH: FoxPro 2.6a Patch Files for FoxPro 2.6 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/102893/EN-US/ Add to this AnswerAsk a Question Related ArticlesUbuntu Packaging Guide - diff and patchPatch Definition - What is a Patch?Types of Software - Digital PhotographyWhere to Go for Help - Casino GamblingBrain Gym - Parenting Children with Dyslexia FoxProAll AnswersAnswers by Expert:MarkishFred Frase Ask ExpertsVolunteer Carla Fair-Wright ExpertiseI can answer most general questions regarding Visual FoxPro.
