Hey guys. I am a well seasoned PC/Mac/Linux bloke, but I must confess, this has me totally stumped. Here is a document I type up, containing the symptom which I am experiencing with my Acer X3950 PC: Attempted diagnosis of Acer X3950 PC errors, and symptoms thereof. I had to boot Ubuntu live USB (with 2TB Toshiba connected to power but not data) and then re-connect data JUST before telling Ubuntu to boot. Once Ubuntu was part way through the boot process, Toshiba drive would suddenly spin up, and Ubuntu could see it.Once Ubuntu booted, "hdparm -I /dev/" would only show corrupt model number and serial number.Perfor
