I have the Parent/child domain set up here. My first parent DC forwards to our ISP's dns and then last resort forwards to our other Parent which directly forwards to the child DC and the child DC also forwards to our ISP's dns and then last resort forwards back to the first parent DC. All my DNS servers are configured to allow recursive. Can i get some input on this??The DNS server is configured to forward to a non-recursive DNS server at *.*.*.*. DNS servers in forwarders list MUST be configured to process recursive queries. Either 1) fix the forwarder (*.*.*.*) to allow recursion - connect to it with DNS Manager - bring up server properties - open "Advanced" tab - uncheck "Disable Recursion" - click OK OR 2) remove this forwarder from this servers forwarders list - DNS Manager - bring up server properties - open "Forwarders" tab - remove (*.*.*.*) from list of forw
server is configured to forward to a non-recursive DNS server at 24.25.227.64. In the Forwarders tab, the "Do not user recursion for this domain" option is unchecked. In the Advanced tab (under Server options), the "Disable recursion" option is unchecked. Where can the problem be ? Is it somewhere in DNS settings ? Or somewhere at the firewalls ? Internet (24.25.227.64) | | Firewall 1 (the edge of our network) | (DNS setting in Firewall 1 points to 24.25.227.64) | Firewall 2 (sub network) | (DNS setting in Firewall 2 points to IP of WinSrv 2003) | WinSrv 2003 (where error occurred) (DNS setting in server forwarded to 24.25.227.64) Thank you Steve SP, Apr 22, 2005 #1 Advertisements http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1404876 Kevin D. Try 4.2.2.2 as a forwarder. -- Best regards, Kevin D4 Dad Goodknecht Sr. [MVP] Hope This Helps =================================== When responding to posts, please "Reply to Group" via your newsreader so that others may learn and benefit from your issue, to respond directly to me remove the nospam. from my email address. =================================== http://www.lonestaramerica.com/ =================================== Use Outlook Express?... to resolve this problem, can someone help, please. Running MS-Win2k Adv. Srvr with AD Message follows. The DNS server is configured to forward to a non-recursive DNS server at 206.132.10.104. Your ISP has a DNS server that is setup as non-recursive. Your DNS server expects an answer to the query, not a referral to the next closed DNS server to the host; hence the error. Talk to your ISP and tell them that is odd behavior for an ISP or use root-hints to iterate yourself. -- William Stacey, MCSE Quote:> I keep getting the following message that keeps filling up > my DNS log, I don't know how to resolve this problem, can > someone help, please. > Running MS-Win2k Adv.
