Dns Error Rcode_badkey
Guest When you say the server is pointing to the correct IP address do you mean it is pointing to the IP address of your existing internal DNS server, as it should be. (No harm in double checking!) Also check you have the correct zone records required. First of all you will need a zone on your DNS server called devcorpserver.com. The zone must contain these key records: NS corpdns.corpserver.com IP_of_server SOA corpdns.corpserver.com IP_of_server A newservername.devcorpserver.com IP_of_server "TheDuck" <> wrote in message news:... > I'm trying to figure out how to resolve this issue. I'm trying to create a http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r12651464-2K3-Cant-create-active-directory-DNS-Probls new DC (completely independent forest) but using an existing DNS server. I'll try adding the entries you suggested to our internal DNS server (that is if the sys admin let's me) and see what happens Guest, Apr 27, 2004 #2 Advertisements Simon Geary Guest One

Messages sorted by: [ date ] [ thread ] Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2005 21:11:06 -0800 Hello Kevin, What should I do here: ---------------------- Diagnostic Results The registration diagnostic has been run 1 time. The wizard encountered an error while trying to determine if the DNS server with which this domain controller will register supports dynamic updates. For more information, including steps to correct this problem, see Help. Details The primary DNS server tested was: ns0.umass.edu (128.119.175.21) The zone was: acad.umass.edu The test for dynamic DNS update support returned: "DNS bad key." (error code 0x00002339 RCODE_BADKEY) -------------- Should I click on the install and configure the DNS server on this computer and set this computer to use this DNS server as its perferred DNS server? Would that enable secure dynamic updates or is this not needed. Also, how do I setup DNS forwarding so the clients (if i can get them connected) can see the real (isp) DNS server to go on the internet? Thanks "Kevin D.
