For example: SQL> create table "Bla" as select * from dual; Table created. SQL> drop table bla; drop table bla * ERROR at line 1: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist SQL> drop table "Bla"; Table dropped. So, when using quoted identifiers, the name of your object becomes case-sensitive...you should check that. What does select user from dual; show you when run in SQL*Plus (e.g. right after/before running the create table) share|improve this answer answered Dec 5 '10
schema and ‘NNN' the name of a table. Possible causes and remedies: Check http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/592/ that the table does exist and that it is spelt correctly. Check the creator/owner of the does not object, it may be that the table exists but is in a different schema from the current. If the table is in a different schema then try specifying the schema explicitly. Check does not exist the permissions - specifically that the account experiencing the error has permissions to select the object/table in question. does not exist. [message #1456] Thu, 02 May 2002 07:23 manemang Messages: 5Registered: May 2002 Junior Member Hello Fellas, I just created a test database and ran the catalog, catproc and pupbld scripts. When I launch SQL Plus however, I'm not able to access the dictionary views. Take for example; Desc dba_tables gets the ERROR: ORA-04043: object SYS.dba_tables does not exist. When I log into SQL Plus as SYSTEM, I'm able to access the dictionary/performance views. When I log in as a user I created and had granted the sysdba and Sysoper priviledges, I still come up with the errors. I'm running on NT4.0 with Oracle 8.0.4. Please help. All scripts must be run connected as INTERNAL (SYS) except pupbld (run as SYSTEM). Report message to a moderator Re: ORA-04043: object SYS.dba_tables does not exist.
