new to Java. I'm trying to use iText to generate pdf itextpdf jar output. I've downloaded the iText-1.3.jar file and documentation. The problem I am having is that NetBeans is

saying "Package com.lowagie.text does not exist". It does this for all the imports for iText. It does it in my own code, the tutorials I've downloaded from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14138623/java-lang-noclassdeffounderror-com-itextpdf-text-documentexception the iText website and the code from "Tools of the Trade" tutorial on the Adobe Press website. I'm using Windows XP SP2. The directory structures I have areC:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06D:\netbeans-5.0D:\jdk1.5.0_06D:\iTextThe iText-1.3.jar file is in D:\iText. I created a CLASSPATH variable that contains D:\iText\iText-1.3.jarI have also put a copy of iText-1.3.jar in just about every \lib http://itext.2136553.n4.nabble.com/Package-com-lowagie-text-does-not-exist-td2140506.html folder I can find. I downloaded it a second time just in case something was wrong with the initial download. I installed the Eclipse IDE and it too gives the same error. I removed anything and everything Java from my PC (including manual removal of any registry entries I found) and then re-installed the latest and greatest of NetBeans and the JDK. Very frustrating as it is probably something very simple that I'm missing that may be taken for granted in the documention and tutorials I've read.So I'm stumped - anyone have any ideas why iText isn't being seen?If I double-click on the iText-1.3.jar file it presents a simple application with some examples. Do I have the right file?Any help would be appreciated, Steve ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
