Names.nsf Does Not Exist
the destination NSF file (a_nameofdb.nsf) archive is not found by Lotus Notes in the designated directory. Either the database has been deleted, moved, or renamed. http://superuser.com/questions/909908/lotus-notes-8-5-file-not-found Answer You can use one of the options below to fix the problem. General Steps for both solutions 1. Determine where the archive file is expected to be by looking up the archiving properties File -> Database -> Properties -> Archive Settings-"Where do you want these documents archived to?" 2. Verify http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21102884 that the file is missing or has been renamed by using Windows Explorer. 3. Locate the named file in a different folder or directory. 4. Follow one of the options below based on whether the file was deleted, moved or renamed: Option number 1 Rename, move, or create the correct NSF file in the correct location. Option number 2 If the named file is found in a different folder or directory, change the location path under "Where do you want these documents archived to?" to the location where the NSF file exists. This time it seems tough as there does not seem to be many software tools on my problem. But I have hopes from this site still.I archived my Lotus Notes Mails into the NSF file that it creates. Then copied it to my USB External HDD and then moved it to a desktop from that extl HDD. I dont know what went wrong in this move operation. Seems the NSF file has got corrupted. And there is NO use using Lotus notes Default tools to fix the errors as it either does not "SEE" the file (says FILE NOT FOUND) and the Lotus Client does not recognise the NSF (Says 'NOT A DATABASE' OR 'File not Found')I tried to use HJSPLIT to split this 3 GB file but the HJSPLIT completed its job by creating only 1 file ( .001) and that too not of the right size when I wanted ti split the 3 GB file into 2 MB files. So i guess the NSF file is corrupted as HJSPLIT is unexpectedly meeting End of File and is mistakenly thinking file split is complete. There does not seem to be any tool to repair my NSF file. Nor am I able to find any tool to repair a Corrupt File. I know STELLAR Phoenix can do it. They tested my nsf and said they can, but they are charging too much. The price does not match my mail value !!!! So can someone pls tell me 1. Whether there is any software to fix this issue and recover my mails and attachments?2. Whether it is possible to learn low level programming and do it myself? Where do I get some reading matter on how files are created and corrupted and how data recovery engineers work? I know this sounds silly but why can I not learn and do it myself even it takes me some time! The NSF file was created by Lotus Notes 6.5 and later we upgraded to Lotus Notes version 8.5 when the archive was last taken.Pls help. Thanks Share Flag Answer This Request Clarification 11 total posts (Page 1 of 2) 01 |
