Package Does Not Exist Java Command Line
where test.java is in a subdomain I added /usr/share/stuff to my class path. and at the top of test.java I add import org.name But I get a package does not exist error...why? java import package share|improve this question asked Jun 16 '11 at 16:19 algorithmicCoder 2,485113987 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 16 down vote accepted Are they in the right subdirectories? If you put /usr/share/stuff on the class path, files defined with package org.name should be in /usr/share/stuff/org/name. EDIT: If you don't already know this, you should probably read this: http://download.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/windows/classpath.html#Understanding EDIT 2: Sorry, I hadn't realised you were talking of Java source files in /usr/share/stuff. Not only they need to be in the appropriate sub-directory, but you need to compile them. The .java files don't need to be on the classpath, but on the source path. (The generated .class files need to be on the classpath.) You might get away with compiling them if they're not under the right director

It's not enough to put http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16504603/solved-java-imported-package-does-not-exist the jar in the same directory - you need to add it to the classpath of the tool you're using. –Greg Kopff May 12 '13 at 5:55 2 package org.apache.pdfbox.pdmodel.PDDocument; Your package should not be the fully qualified name of an existing class! –Andrew Thompson May 12 '13 at 6:15 thanks andrew. i will remove it now. –user1952529 May 12 '13 at 6:30 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote Putting the jar in the same folder or package does not add it to the class path. You need to mention the path of the jar in your class path while running your java program. Here is the syntax for that: To compile: javac -classpath .;yourjar.jar src/your/package/*.java To run java -classpath .;yourjar.jar src/your/package/yourprogrammeclassname share|improve this answer edited May 12 '13 at 6:04 answered May 12 '13 at 5:56 Juned Ahsan 44.9k64876 That won't fix a compilation error. –Stephen C May 12 '13 at 5:57 For compilation you can set CLASSPATH environment variable. –Juned Ahsan May 12 '13 at 6:00 1 Any classes your code uses that you didn't write yourself need their locations pointed out to the compiler so that it can link them into your code when it compiles everything together. The filesystem paths to those classes are called classpaths. There are two ways to tell your compiler where to look for external classes. One is to pass the "-classp
Points java.time package not recognized or does not exist. Shouldn't this be a part of the standard JDK? I am getting an error complaining that the java.time package does not exist. I have https://teamtreehouse.com/community/javatime-package-not-recognized-or-does-not-exist-isnt-this-be-a-part-of-the-standard-jdk imported at the top of the Gif.java, GifController filess as so: import java.time.LocalDate; It is however being recognized when I Use LocalDate to declare the variable. But then it says can't recognize symbol to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adbkKk68QLA the variable it allowed me to make. 3 Answers MOD Seth Kroger Treehouse Moderator 42,407 Points Seth Kroger Seth Kroger Treehouse Moderator 42,407 Points 6 months ago LocalDate is an addition to the JDK in does not Java 8. If the installed JDK version is lower than 8 or the language level of the project is lower, you won't be able to use it. (check the sourceCompatibility setting in the build.gradle file.) It is does not exist 1.5. and my path to the JDK says 1.8. My intelij is v15 and my mac is running Java 8. Seth Kroger Treehouse Moderator 42,407 Points Seth Kroger Seth Kroger Treehouse Moderator 42,407 Points 6mo ago Yes, changing that should fix thing if everything else is ok. Paul Yorde 9,483 Points Paul Yorde Paul Yorde 9,483 Points 6mo ago sourceCompatibility 1.8 doesn't work with language level 1.8. Can I bring java.time package into my project? How do I do that? Does that have to with add Jar to the project? Jeremiah Shore Pro Student 20,854 Points Jeremiah Shore Jeremiah Shore Pro Student 20,854 Points 3mo ago Paul Yorde once you add the the following to your build.gradle file... sourceCompatibility = 1.8 ...make sure you manually refresh the Gradle project. You should only need the import statement as you have it... import java.time.LocalDate; ...and that should be it. You can also check the language level is correct in your project by navigating to File > Project Structure > Project Settings > Project > Project language level. I believe Gradle supplies sourceCompatibility = 1.5 as a default, hence the suggestion to refresh once you have changed the value, as doing so should set the correct language level. Deenash Arivazhag
