The user is created and I granted privs to one public table postgresql relation for now. I then logged into the DB as that user and tried to run a SELECT on the table that the user should be able to get to but I must of missed a step or did something wrong because when I run the query I get: relation [table] does not exist Below are the steps I took, in order. CREATE USER pqb2b WITH PASSWORD 'foo' select * from pg_user; usename | usesysid | usecreatedb | usesuper | usecatupd | passwd | valuntil | useconfig ----------+----------+-------------+----------+-----------+----------+----

Just what I posted above. –Slinky Jan 23 '13 at 20:55 oh, nevermind, I didn't notice it was in the public schema. –ilias Jan 23 '13 at 20:57 3 You must've edited that log; you ran select * from users and got relation b_users does not exist. Can you please show original and unedited logs? If the above is in fact unedited, please show the output of \d+ users and \d+ b_users. –Craig Ringer Jan 24 '13 at 3:00 1 Were you in the correct database when you ran you grant stuff? –Bohemian♦ Jan 24 '13 at 13:01 | show 2 more comments 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 14 down vote Even though I was gra

For instance, if I create a table using qoutes: create table "TEST" ("Col1" bigint); the table is properly created and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26631205/postgresql-error-42p01-relation-table-does-not-exist I can see that the quotes are preserved when view it in the SQL pane of pgAdminIII. But when I query the DB to find the list of all available tables (using the below query), I see that the result does not contain quotes around the table name. select table_schema, table_name from information_schema.tables where not table_schema='pg_catalog' and not table_schema='information_schema'; Since the table was created with quotes, I can't use the table name returned from the above query directly since it is unquoted and throws the error in posted in the title. I could try surrounding the table names with quotes in all queries but I'm not sure if it'll work all the time. I'm looking for a way to get the list of table names that are quoted with quotes in the result. I'm having the same issue with column names as well but I'm hoping that if I can find a solution to the table names issue, a similar solution will work for column names as well. sql database postgresql postgis share|improve th

"select * from User" A little googling revealed that if you are using multicase table name (U is caps), you will need to give the table name in quotes. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/695289/cannot-simply-use-postgresql-table-name-relation-does-not-exist A better fix would be to always use lower case characters when declaring tables in postgres.
