Missing wireless card from devices.> Solved PC not recognizing any wireless networks. Missing wireless card from devices. Tags: Desktops NIC Wireless Windows 7 Hewlett Packard Last response: 14 August 2014 08:27 in Windows 7 Share d_ylan 14 August 2014 05:30:24 Hello! I have an HP desktop (model no. s5988d) that's running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Up until yesterday my computer has had no problem finding wireless connections and staying connected but mid way through use the symbol for the network bars dropped and replaced by a red cross. Specs from HP say the computer has a 802.11 wireless b/g/n half-length PCI-Express Mini card and Realtek RTL8111DL (for LAN). I tried troubleshooting it first but it couldn't come up with anything. Then I noticed that I wasn't picking up my neighbours' connections like I usually do and the only other available connection is local area (which requires an ethernet cable). So I decided to check the device manager and under network adapters only Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller was present. This was weird so I tried looking for the original drivers for the model to see if I can install them (using my macbook which is able to find and connect to previously mentioned hotspots) through this. Tried to install the original Ralink Wireless Networking Controller Driver but my PC told me the system did not meet the minimum requirements (code 9996). Not sure what to do now.
