Explanation: The system is having a problem accessing the dram refresh interval system memory to refresh it. Refreshing is done on all system memory to keep its contents active.

Diagnosis: This code usually means a problem either with the system memory or with the motherboard itself.

Board/RAM problem? Bios needs changing?« on: 28-October-10, 19:22:10 » I am new to PC building, and I have just put together my first system. So I have everything assembled, system turns on, and I hear 1 short beep. I can go into my motherboard BIOS screen, and even begin installing Windows 7. However, after about 4-5 minutes, the computer will just turn itself off. According to my motherboards beep codes, 1 short beep means a DRAMS refresh failure. Is this RAM related? Now I tried to unhook the ram, switch the spots on the board, and plug it back in, but I got the same problem. Is this perhaps faulty RAM? Or is a motherboard/power supply issue? And if you had a DRAM refresh failure would you hear one short beep or one short beep followed by another short beep during the boot process? My confusion came when I saw a post yesterday from a member who had a laptop that did not beep prior to having boot problems and then after having problems he stated that he had a beep. Thanks Back to top BC AdBot (Login to Remove) BleepingComputer.com Register to remove ads #2 Axegrinder Axegrinder Members 62 posts OFFLINE Local time:02:38 PM Posted 01 February 2009 - 11:44 AM I have an AMI BIOS, and my pc always beeps once on startup, tad confusing that.
