0 Occupation: Retired Location: Herefordshire Has anyone had this problem? I want to change my ftp password from the default dreambox but can't. I have tried through DCC as well as the Windows Telnet application but get the same response viz. "an error occurred updating the password file". Do I have to change the attributes on the password file? if so where is it stored? You https://www.linux.com/answers/error-occurred-updating-password-file will be asked for the login which is root and you may be asked for the existing password. Then enter your new password (it will be asked for twice) and then exit.
