#1 AkaRai View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Imp Join Date Jan 2010 Posts 1 Trouble Patching To 1.7 I have the version of DK2 that came in the silver combo box with DK, it comes with a patch and some goodies on the disc. My problem is, it seems to be stuck on version 1.61. I don't know if I previously manually patched to 1.7, or dungeon keeper 2 windows 7 patch the disc I used to have was newer than the one I have now, and patched to it, but I remember using the Maiden and the Jack in the Box trap. I can't seem to use either, and I don't have access to the 7th My Pet Dungeon, so I assume it's not patched up. However, when I try to download the patch online and install it, I always get this error message: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since the file contents do not match. Is this because I didn't patch straight from 1.3 to 1.7? Anything I can do to rectify this short of a reinstall? Once you know which version you have, if you have version 1.61, you have to get the patch that updates to 1.7. Unfortunately, on DK.net, we does

"Why are you doing this?" - Frankly we're struggling to make ends meet here especially since the site got more popular. The only way we can think to cover our costs is to run ads, but if so many of you keep blocking them... Another fact - We have the software and the power to completely block adblock users from our site, but we're not going to, at least for now. We figure most of you would like to support us and you only installed Adblock because of other sites that aren't so considerate with their ad placement. Please, don't punish us because of them, in the seven or so years I've been a blogger/webmaster I've ALWAYS considered the need to balance monetisation with reader experience. I want to build an audience not send them away. So go on, whitelist us and any other site you love. If it wasn't for ads, the internet would lose a whole chunk of really great niche content like this, which would be a real shame in our opinion. Now, go ahead and read the page if you want to, but wouldn't it be much more convenient if you just whitelisted us? :) Genre: Real Time StrategyRelease Year: 1999Developer: Bullfrog ProductionsPublisher: Electronic ArtsAge Rating: 12+Playability Status: PerfectTested On: Windows 8 x64Availability: Copyright retained - Still sold

I love http://www.compatdb.org/forums/topic/30436-dungeon-keeper-2-update-problem/ this game, and I just added a detection over here: https://www.evolvehq.com/topics/688-dungeon-keeper-2?page=1#post-2529 And figured I'd post up how I made it work both in Singleplayer and Multiplayer. PS: This fix adresses most issues, blackscreen, dungeon keeper not loading at all, blablabla, more stuff, and even more derps. I have still been having a little bit of an issue with "DKII.exe has stopped working" but I think that may be fixed. We'll see. I did this on a Windows 7 machine, but have on many occassions in the past done it on a vista machine. For those of you who are attempting to dungeon keeper 2 run it on Win Vista/7, you have to do the following for optimisation (especially for LAN): Open your shortcut's properties, type in "-32bitdisplay -softwarefilter" in the targetline, without the quotation marks Go to the compatability tab of properties and set: Compatability: Windows 2000 Disable Visual Themes Disable Desktop Composition Disable Display scaling on high DPI settings Open up the game, enter Options Sound: Disable QSound Graphics: Lower resolution to 640x400 instead of anything else. Disable Hardware acceleration (IMPORTANT! After disabling Hardware acceleration, enter a skirmish game for a second or two, and quit the gametherefter, otherwise it won't save the disable of the hardware acceleration) Now the game ought to work! Enjoy. PS: If you attempt to run this game on LAN, you will possibly at one point run across an error in the LAN Lobby where, when you attempt to join a game, it will say "Please wait.." and refresh the lobby. Without actually joining the game. This error is caused from having incompatible versions of the game such as gold version vs. silver version vs. different patches. I urge you to make sure that you have the same version of the game if
