My dvd player is acting up again. It is a Sony S360 and will no longer read any discs. I found this posting and tried to change the configs without any success: http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/sony-dvp-s360-dvd-players-no-disc-error-t243336.html When I do a Check Disc Memory I get a 1F. If I do a syscon diag. everything reports ok but when I an auto check on the disc itself I get an error when it checks SLED on. I have very little knowledge of electronics but am good at following instructions. I have had this unit for awhile now but really don't have the means to go and get a new one so any ideas would be helpful. Thank you Quote 4th Aug 200920:28 #2 weenie02000 View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Member Join Date : Feb 2008 Location : United States I guess no one has any suggestions after 44 views? I cannot believe in one week both my players went. I never had this trouble with my VCR and it is still running. (See if it will recognize a CD, if you haven't tried it, already.) Are you sure the player is kept in a clean, well-ventilated area? Smoke in the air and dust/etc. from a disc can transfer to the lens. You may need to clean the laser lens (by taking the player apart and carefully cleaning the lens with a soft swab and cleaning solution, not a cleaning disc). Other than that, I couldn't say - it's always possible something needs to be readjusted in the electronics or replaced, but I don't know the player. Of course, a disc player has a lot more delicate internal machinery than a VCR. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? Quote 4th Aug 200920:54

Was watching T2 the other night when my Sony S360 suddenly froze up as if it was paused. Couldn't get it to continue. The bottom-right of the screen soon showed a 4-character error code that started with the letter "C" and then 3 numbers (can't remember what they are). Every CD/DVD now comes up "NO DISC". It has this kind of quiet grinding dvp-s360 no sound before it pukes. Is this common? Anybody know if it's an easy, cheap repair? If not, which deck should I get next? Most of my HT is Sony, so I'm kinda partial. At the least, it would need COAX and S-Video outputs. Would prefer compatibility with both + and - R. MP3 would be nice but not necessary. I'd prefer picture quality over a really cheap price. Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disk on it. Maxell sells one for approximately $10US. If that doesn't remedy your problem, you'll find that it's less expensive to buy a new (comparable or better) standalone than to repair your DVP S360, which has probably served you well for more than two years... Tried re-inserting it several times, cuz I could tell it was getting some kind of spinning action, but alas... It's not black, but according to people at dvdrhelp who have tried the Sony DVP-NS725P, it works with just about every brand of media and format thrown at it. Thanks for the reply.
