Solved E752x error registers (memory) error in FC4 messages log Posted on 2007-08-18 Linux Operating Systems Hardware 4 Verified Solutions 8 Comments 2,600 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-16 I get the following entry in the messages file, which I believe is something to do with system memory. The box is a HP ML350 Proliant running FC4 Linux. "Contact your BIOS vendor to see if the E752x error registers can be safely un-hidden" This also gets reported in the daily log monitor (via email) so I guess it is important. Questions: 1. What does it mean 2. Is it important? 3. How can it be fixed? Thanks SF 0 Question by:sheepfarmer Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 15 Best Solution bym1tk4 E725x is the memory controller chip, so you are correct in your guess. 1. This means that at the time of writing of E725x driver the driver authors were not sure if this particular feature is working with your hardware. 2. It might, because if there is a problem you will get all kinds of weird errors from time to time which will be impossible to reproduce and troubleshoot. 3. If your hardware is still under support contract, call HP. If it isn't, sign up for HP support forums - they are not indexed by Google, but there are tons of useful HP-related info there. 0 Message Author Comment by:sheepfarmer2007-08-18 Is it likely that the driver for the E725x was written by HP or some other firm who released it to FC4? 1st, 2012, 12:36 PMHello this is my first time posting to the Ubuntu forums. A few months ago i was inspired to buy a server not having a single clue what i would be getting into or what to use it for. Now several months later I've learned more about servers and linux than i could have ever hoped for. Ive been using linux for over a year now for mostly fun but this server has kind of forced me to dig in and really learn about linux. My question is about 2 kernel errors that showed up in logwatch. this is what i get when i run https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22771409/E752x-error-registers-memory-error-in-FC4-messages-log.html dmesg | grep -i error [ 9.835117] EXT4-fs (dm-0): re-mounted. Opts: errors=remount-ro [ 10.354409] Contact your BIOS vendor to see if the E752x error registers can be safely un-hidden The server is running fine no noticeable lag or other issues. My question is how can i fix these errors and where can i learn more about them? Running the latest Ubuntu server Dell Poweredge 2850 2 Xeon 64bit single core processors 4gb Ram https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1918555.html 2 Raid Arrays Two 70gb hard drives in raid 1 Four 147gb hard drives in raid 5 with DRAC 4 SeijiSenseiFebruary 1st, 2012, 02:19 PMThe first entry isn't an error. When the machine boots, the primary filesystem is mounted read-only until the boot process completes, at which time it is remounted as writable. The entry you list is the report that the remount has taken place. The "errors" line only indicates what would have happened (remounted as read-only) if errors were detected in the filesystem. I have no idea about the second error, though it doesn't sound all that serious, and you don't detect any problems with the machine. I'd read the lines right above that one to get some context for the message. dieselchairFebruary 2nd, 2012, 01:23 AMThank you for your help I took a look at the lines above the second messeage and this is what was there [ 12.777710] shpchp: Standard Hot Plug PCI Controller Driver version: 0.4 [ 12.785126] lp: driver loaded but no devices found [ 12.799287] EXT4-fs (dm-0): re-mounted.
