Email Error 550 5.1.0
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: user@domain.com Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 #5.1.0 Address rejected user@domain.com (state 14). The Cause: There is no "mail.domain.com" in the dns system. In my case I was sending the mail via an alias (it was a notification email from the web server). The receiving mail server sees the email as forged and bounces it. The Solution: Go to the dns system and create a mail.domain.com and point your MX records to that. It's a bit silly, but it has to be done that way. photo credit: derrickkwa This post originally appeared on the Stronico blog - with the absorption of Stronico into Digital Tool Factory this post has been moved to the Digital Tool Factory blog Written By Steve French This entry was posted on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 at 11:25 amand is filed under How To Fix . My DNS is at Godaddy.com. I created a new MX record for my two domains as you instructed. Is there any thing else that needs to be done on the server itself? Thanks Reply Hanan says: July 28, 2010 at 4:31 am More than half modern culture depends on what one shouldn't read. You write: Go to the dns system and create a mail.domain.com and point your MX records to that. It’s a bit silly, but it has to be done that way As I understand: Go to My Account -> Domain Manager Select my domain Click Total DNS Control Add New MX Record (Priority 0 ; Host @ ; Goes To mail.domain.com) Am I right? Or I do somethig wrong or miss some additional steps? Reply Maritime news says: September 28, 2010 at 12:06 pm We've just had the same thing occur - but in our case our mail service was added under an ‘asiapacific' region rather than U.S. There is also a ‘Europe' smtp service. So we had to add new MX records (under Total DNS link from Domain manager) as: MX @ smtp.asia.secureserver.net (set to 0) MX @ mail

I would say that the recpient address (lfell@unmc.edu) doesnt exist. You get this error when the outgoing server (SMTP) does not recognize you as an authorized user. This can happen for various reasons http://productforums.google.com/d/topic/apps/z1J8LRrHw00 but in general you'll encounter this when you want to send a message through an SMTP server that is on another network than you are currently connected email error to. For instance when you want to send an email on your laptop from your hotel room via the network of the hotel. Enable authentication for your SMTP server When this happens, you can configure your outgoing server to use authentication before sending this message. To do this, you must first open your account settings; email error 550 Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016File-> Account Settings-> Account Settings… Outlook 2007 Tools-> Account Settings Outlook 2003 and 2002/XP Tools-> E-mail Accounts…-> button Next Once you have opened the list of configured accounts; Select your mail account-> button Change…-> button More Settings…-> tab Outgoing Server-> select: My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication Enable authentication for your SMTP server. Note: Some ISPs have configured their SMTP servers to never allow sending messages from another network. In this case you can ask the administrator of the network you are connected to (in our example that would be the administrator of the hotel network) for their SMTP server settings or use the web mail provided by your ISP instead.
