Windows Network Consolidation Merge three disparate Windows networks into one heterogenous environment TECHNOLOGY IN THIS DISCUSSION Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now First post! Have a user who is having an issue accessing an internal sharepoint server via cisco vpn from his home office with cox cable when using the simple computer name. He's receiving one of those search results pages from his ISP. Cox calls them "enhanced error results." He's opted out of the service with Cox, but still receives them and they've but given up and told him he needs to upgrade to a business account. When talking to business sales, they're doubtful it'll solve the issue, and the user is a little reluctant to spend the extra $40 a month on it. I had a registry hack that I used in Windows XP along with the connection ordering in the network adapter advanced settings that worked 100%, however the registry entry doesn't seem to be there anymore in windows 7. The key was HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Linkage\bind. The key is still there, but the entry I would reorder is not. What's more wierd is that the issue appears to be specific to IE, nslookup returns the proper IP and I can ping the server properly. FQDNs seem to work fine in IE, but then get sent back to simple names due to the way it's set up. He can also connect to the exchange server in outlook using just the server name. Has anyone been able to successfully resolve these issues in regards to Windows 7/IE8? I know I can manually enter the DNS servers, but that might end up in a ticket everytime he's outside of his office. Not the most ideal solution. Thanks! Details on the reghack I used to do.
