==== Begin backup Mon Sep 9 09:38:53 EST 2013 errno 5 input/output error Converter started Mon Sep 9 09:38:53 EST 2013 Converter completed lstat successfully Mon Sep 9 09:38:53 EST 2013 cpio: close error, errno 5, I/O error 1 errors backup failed /tmp/cpio.inlist16316 contains the list of files to back up /cmsbackup/CMSADM-r16.3eg.a-130909093931-1243FMK03A has been removed ===== Backup failed Mon Sep 9 09:40:42 EST 2013Problem Clarification Customer wants to know whyCMSADM backupgot failed whenthey tried on Sep 09Cause Normally we see several reasons can cause CMSADM backup failure: 1) Any very large file in the CMS system so it couldn’t be archived during backup 2) A file size is changing too fast during backup, so cpio can not catch the file state and will fail 3) Some third party applications integrated with CMS, some files generated by CMS then send out by third party application, so cpio archive these files before but not be able to find these files again when backup..Solution if no clue could befound in above steps, please advise customer side to keep monitoring the screen when do CMSADM backup next time. If any error message it will turn up during the backup process after the dots ……. customer site need to capture the screenshot or note down the error message, then we could further analyze based on this. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available from electronics suppliers), to check whether the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment.
